    Description

In this revelatory, authoritative portrait of Donald J. Trump and the toxic family that made him, Mary L. Trump, a trained clinical psychologist and Donald’s only niece, shines a bright light on the dark history of their family in order to explain how her uncle became the man who now threatens the world’s health, economic security and social fabric.

Mary Trump spent much of her childhood in her grandparents’ large, imposing house in New York, where Donald and his four siblings grew up. She describes a nightmare of traumas, destructive relationships and a tragic combination of neglect and abuse.

She explains how specific events and general family patterns created the damaged man who currently occupies the Oval Office, including the strange and harmful relationship between Fred Trump and his two oldest sons, Fred Jr. and Donald.

A first-hand witness, Mary brings an incisive wit and unexpected humour to sometimes grim, often confounding family events. She recounts in unsparing detail everything from her uncle Donald’s place in the family spotlight and Ivana’s penchant for regifting to her grandmother’s frequent injuries and illnesses and the appalling way Donald, Fred Trump’s favourite son, dismissed and derided him when he began to succumb to Alzheimer’s.

Numerous pundits, armchair psychologists and journalists have sought to explain Donald Trump’s lethal flaws. Mary Trump has the education, insight and intimate familiarity needed to reveal what makes Donald and the rest of her clan tick. She alone can recount this fascinating, unnerving saga, not just because of her insider’s perspective, but also because she is the only Trump willing to tell the truth about one of the world’s most powerful and dysfunctional families.

A complete guide to understanding Donald Trump

What I liked about this book: The book was although 6hrs to describe Donald’s upbringing and the reason for who he is today but even as short as it was,the author still made it work I can say for myself now I understand and if she hadn’t written it a lot of people would still be in the dark till today.

To whom I would recommend this book: Hmm how about the millions of people who still want to vote for him a second time and every other person who still follows his covid Doctor tips.

Ratings: Really is that a question? The book was outstanding,I live in Nigeria a country who is blindly following every whim of the president of the United States and its really affecting me and my fellow citizens. So even here in Africa we feel the brunt of trumps ignorance. So five stars to that book for telling us the truth about him I know this book will have a lot of haters but its the truth not from an outsider but from family imagine that.Excellent.

    Listen with an open mind

Such a tragic story of a family that had so much promise but was so full of dysfunctional relationships.

America needs leadership which is above everything else committed to the service of its people.. this provides unique insight in a man who seems to motivated by a deep sense of personality conflict..

    Total miss and great disappointment

I had great expectations to this book and found it a total disappointment. The book is more about how badly she (and her “poor dad”) has been treated rather than an attempt at giving any new insights to Donald’s behavior and mental state. Don’t waste your time, save your money and buy another book

    Wow.

Thoroughly enjoyed. A real eye opener. Brutally honest. A must listen. Highly recommend this book.

What a messed up family. The lot of them.

I found this book very insightful. So many things don’t make sense when watching Donald Trump play president. Mary Trump’s explanations helped to start to understand that life like him exists and that he is surrounded by family who are just a variation of like him. Don’t feel sorry for any of them with the exception of Mary and her side of the family. Well done though.

    Totally enthralling presentation

This is a well written story. Even if it wasnt true and aimed at Donald J Trump it would still rate as an enthralling account of a young girls journey in a family led by an egotistical patriarc. I felt I was on the journey with her. It was enjoyably narrated by the author. The fact that it was aimed at taking down her uncle Donald is neither here nor there. It displays reasons why he is such a nasty piece of bussiness but offers no excuse for his behavjiuor but condems him and his behaviour. I would look for any work written or narrated by this lady on any subject as she has a real talent.

    Revealing

Well narrated intelligent and knowledgeable true story. As a family member with the skill of a psychologist at her fingertips Mary has given an insight into the Trump family and explains how and why her uncle acts with such indifference.

A detailed description of the Trump family

Psychologist and niece to Donald Trump, Mary Trump details an elaborate view into the family life of the Trumps. She writes eloquently and entertainingly while taking moments of pause to reflect. Brilliant women and an important book!

    Insight into a sick mind

This audio book was really well done. The narrative wove in and out in a seamless way. It was like looking through the window of a very troubled family. It explained a lot, answered the many questions I had about how someone ,Donald trump ,could be so misshapen and mentally ill yet still present a false face to the world and have people actually go along with his entire charade even would think he'd live in constant fear of exposure.

    Nothing NEW!

Actually nothing new is reported in the book, the brother receives a little more attention, but all in all the book is not thought of in a systemic way, rather the narrative is like a long psychoanalytic session, so the book demonstrates that any psychology as a subject can't explain world politics.
