Description

A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president.

Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility.

The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.

Hood's team, which includes a general, a former ambassador, a psychologist, and a computer specialist, tries to find the solution, only to discover a factor that could change the new world order.

Well written just not gripping for me.

Where does Tom Clancy's Op-Center rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the middle so far.

If you’ve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?

It is a different author than Rainbow Six but they come from the same house. If Rainbow Six was The Illiad this was The Cat in the Hat. The Cat in the Hat is not a bad book. It just isnt as deep and well done as The Illiad

Which character – as performed by Michael Kramer – was your favorite?

No one really stuck out. Ms. Chong, whom we meet playing piano, was probably the most interesting via Kim's opinions that he expresses about her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The knight hawk scene. Written really well. I am a very technical person the clean violent act mixed perfectly with the information given about the aircraft made a very short sweet read. mind blowing really.

Any additional comments?

It was a good book but most of the characters felt very plain/not fleshed/ Typical. I never found myself wondering what anyone was up to because i didnt care about them.

Excellent listen

This was my first Tom Clancy book I've listened to, and loved it. It was difficult at times to try and remember the pile of cast members, and the jumping around style took me a while to get used to, but after a while, the style seemed tight and clear. The reader, Michael Kramer is incredible . .either he's incredible, or they actually used 5 or so different people doing the voices.

The story was full of the action I heard Tom Clancy was so well known for, and I felt like the story balanced and pulled together each of the story lines together nicely.

It's 4 stars only because I had to concentrate while listening, and had to backup all the time and re-listen to sections :-)

lifts the bordom for a while.

it's a decent enough story, however I feel that the author is far, far too sympathetic to the North Koreans for my liking especially the way he tries to portray them as some sort of misunderstood victims towards the end. I also don't particularly care for the implied adultery on the part of one of the main characters nor do I particularly like the way he tries to portray the North Koreans and a positive light

Good Voice Actor, long-winded good read

it was a long book. good story. I wouldn't have been able to get through it reading if it wasn't read to me. Voice actor was great at doing many voices.

A good start and intro to character's

all in all I enjoyed the book. It seemed as though the recording was a little off on its speed but nothing that couldn't be adjusted. The introduction to new characters was nice, I finished all of the Jack Ryan stories and this is a nice addition. You still get the world around government operations but also a good glimpse into a larger cast.

Clancy and Op-center was intense.

Would you try another book from the authors and/or Michael Kramer?

Yes, I am a fan of the all thrillers.

What did you like best about this story?

Donald's heroic actions to prevent the outbreak of a new Korean war.

Did Michael Kramer do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes

Could you see Tom Clancy's Op-Center being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Tom Cruise maybe, H Ford as Donald.

reader

The narrator is not a good match for this kind of subjects. He has an effeminate voice. Kind of annoying.

OK. Not great.

This was a relatively short book. Character development was minimal. There was a plethora of characters with barely recognizable Korean names. Most of the time I could not tell who were the good guys and who were the bad guys and it wasn't until the very last paragraph of the book that I really understood exactly what "op-center" was supposed to be. Characters would pop up seemingly out of nowhere and they were all assigned unpronounceable names instead of just identified by title. Maybe the book was more comprehensible in written form But as an audiobook it was difficult to follow with a convoluted plotline. The performance was reasonably good however I still don't understand why one of the principal characters , Gregory Donald , had an American sounding name but whose dialogue was read with some type of accent. I really wish the author would not name characters with two first names and then arbitrarily use one or the other. I was halfway through the book before I realized for sure that he was talking about the same person.
