Thrice Upon a Time is the story of the search for the identity of an abandoned child - an inventive novel which is at once a gripping mystery and a morally resounding feminist history, set in British Columbia.

Genni Gunn's impressive debut novel, nominated for a Commonwealth Prize, weaves three separate narratives into a richly textured and immersive whole. Moving forward and backward in time, Gunn uses journal entries, first-person narration, newspaper clippings, native myths, and the raw beauty of the Canadian landscape to create a haunting mystery. Performer Kathleen McInerny's plaintive voice is well suited to describing the harsh splendor and dark corners of the world Gunn has created, and moves fluidly among the many characters to create an experience that will linger in your mind.
