    Ware tells a cracking tale and, as in her breakout novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, the house itself plays a hugely menacing part in proceedings.
    An ingenious suspense narrative...Ware pulls out a stunner on the penultimate page that radically alters how we interpret everything that’s come before. I daresay even Henry James would be impressed.

    I really enjoyed listening to this book. Imogen Church reads it really well. She switches seamlessly between the different accents and voices. It was very dynamic and is what got me hooked.
    As for the story, I have to say I expected a bit more. Rowan's VERY detailed account of everything that happens made it so that my brain switched off at some point in the story. Also, I guessed the different twists before they were revealed and I felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic. It's not a popular opinion, but well, I'll stick to it.
    Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the book and the creepy feelings it elicited.
    I would recommend it but be prepared for some length in the story.

    Si j'ai beaucoup aimé l'intrigue, qui est à la fois originale et bien menée, en revanche j'ai eu beaucoup de mal à supporter les interminables dialogues intérieurs de la narratrice. Ceux-ci sont vraiment trop récurrents et longs et sa paranoïa tourne à l'absurde tellement le trait est forcé. Dommage car il y avait du potentiel pour cette histoire...

    A wonderful performance and a great book. I don't often get so utterly drawn in by a story. There were twists and turns as you would expect. I don't want to spoil this book by saying too much, but I do recommend it. Just don't expect it to send you to sleep.

    Réécriture de The Turn of the Screw, ce thriller raconte l'histoire d'une nanny qui doit s'occuper de petites pestes dans une maison ultra tech. Et l'auteure ne se prive pas en retournements de situation.

    Quand le récit commence, on sait que la nanny est en prison pour le meurtre d'une des petites filles et elle clame son innocence en écrivant à un avocat susceptible de la défendre. C'est donc presque uniquement son point de vue qui est choisi. Elle répond à une annonce pour une famille fortunée et à partir de là c'est compliqué.

    C'est compliqué, ça se retourne sans cesse mais c'est du bon thriller! Le personnage principal, pas forcément sympathique d'entrée de jeu, est attachant. Les petites pestes aussi.

    J'avais envie de découvrir cette auteure et je ne suis pas déçue.

    En prime ce livre audio en vo est servi par une narratrice très plaisante à écouter, qui donne une vraie sensation d'être dans l'histoire sans en faire des caisses.

    Je recommande assurément.
