For as long as I could remember, we lived in a small village with barely enough food to sustain us.
My mother tried to stretch out the little food we did have between all of us.
One day, my father became so ill that he could do nothing more than lie in his bed, moaning in pain.
Tears welled up in my eyes at the thought of never seeing my family again.
"Divya, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever known. Would you do me the honor of being my wife?"
For a moment I couldn't breathe. I had dreamed of this day for so long, but I never imagined it would come true. Tears welled up in my eyes with happiness then as I realized he was serious.
