Edward Laverack
The Setter, by Edward Laverack, is a must-listen for anyone interested in English Setters and the development of modern Setters. Laverack was one of the seminal creators of today's Setter in Britain and North America. His discussion of the fine points of the breed and of Setter strains which existed during and prior to the 19th century.
A unique historical perspective on the English Setter, it details the origins of the breed and bloodlines. Laverack describes the setters of his day by castle and lord ownership. Field trials, shows, and kennel management are discussed. English, Irish, and Gordon Setters and the English Pointer are compared.
