Description

Book two in the blockbuster Maze Runner series that spawned a movie franchise and ushered in a worldwide phenomenon! And don't miss The Fever Code, the highly-anticipated series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built!

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn't done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.
The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers' destruction—and they're determined to survive.
Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials are now major motion pictures featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O'Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The third movie, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, will hit screens in 2018.

Way better than the movie

Loved it! Far better than the movie. And drastically different. Can’t wait to start the next book.

Fast pace, new twists and more mysteries

Who will survive the Scorch Trials? This book literally begins right where The Maze Runner left off. The Gladers believe they have escaped WICKED and are beginning a new life but those who read the epilogue from The Maze Runners know that WICKED actually has the Gladers right where they want them.

If you enjoyed The Maze Runner then you will love The Scorch Trials.

The narrator Mark Deakins does a great job; if you enjoyed him in The Maze Runner then you will enjoy him in The Scorch Trials. He brings life and personality to each individual character.

This book does contain more graphic content than The Maze Runner, if you did not like descriptions of the final battle between the Gladers and the Grievers then you will probably not enjoy portions of this book.

I enjoyed this book and cannot what for the third installment.

I just finished the series...

overall I enjoyed the Maze Runner series. this book however was my least favorite. it felt as if Dashner was just plodding through this one to get to Death Cure. I'm glad I read it in the end... it introduced a few new characters like Rat Man and a few others that are involved in Death Cure.
The relationship between Tom and the Gladers kinda falls away in this book which is disappointing.
If you enjoyed the first book, the Maze Runner, stick it out through Scorch Trials, in the end you'll be glad you did.

An excited start that quickly fell into drudgery.

In which the strong, smart, and initiative main protagonist we enjoyed in the first book reverts into a moody hormonal preteen.
Seemingly refusing to use his cream-of-the-crop brain for anything other than being abysmally confused, making unbearably tactless social decisions, and falling unconscious CONSTANTLY.
The action was good when there was action, but most of it happening at or near Thomas while he has some sort of emotional breakdown rather than taking any affirmative action.
I'll leave it at that and just say I had a lot of problems with this sequel. It will be a while before I read the finale after reading ahead on its own reviews.

The narration was absolutely fantastic, great consistency with believable voices.

Performance is incredible, story can be slow

There were a few times I wanted to abandon this book in the beginning half, due to all the terrible things that happened. However, the performance was great and the distinct characters are played so well.

Amazing! Thrilling!

I was on the edge of my seat. I actually verbally cheered at the end. Awesome narration too complete with pleasant voices. These characters are more dear to me than those in the movie! Download it now! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Scorching good listen... but...

Definitely better than the first. love the twists...although I felt like it turned Hunger Games almost when Group B got involved, like a twisted version of "Capture the Flag" when they got to the Safe Haven. Considering I saw the movie before I read the book, I must say that I can see why they changed certain things. Will be interesting to see what the next one brings.
As far as shipping goes, definitely Brenda and Thomas. Not a huge fan of Teresa- no matter how she tried she really could not justify her behavior.
LOVED Jorge- kind of wish he was more crazy in the movie. Definitely recommend this series. The one thing I am a little iffy on is the narrator himself: he did a good job, but when it came to doing the girl voices I he was 'eh'. Otherwise, amazing.

Zombies? Ugh...

I really loved the first book. Once I got into this one and found out The Flare was a zombie disease...I almost returned the book. I was discouraged by how main stream of an approach was taken. Over all I gave this book 3 stars, only a couple of times did I have the urge to never stop listening. Mostly though I was a bit bored.

I loved it

In this book there are so many amazing characters and Deakins does such a great job with the voices. I love this book because it hit pretty much all of my emotions. There were parts where I was scared and mad. This book is very suspenseful it's worth reading

Wicked is weird

The amount of times it is described how the boys eat is truly staggering and unnecessary. This story is carried more by its characters than its plot and most of them are not all that likable. Overall very enjoyable though if at times a bit confusing.

Quite boring with little structure

Seems like a plathora of bad things thrown upon teenage boys... for no real reason. At least none that has a good explaination (and as I read in other reviews - will not be have much of one in the last book of the triology). The writing is flat, the main character becomes increasingly more unlikeable and is also kind of dense. The Maze Runner started so well - what a fantastic idea to wake up in a giant, dangerous maze without any idea or memories about it. But I guess that's how far the authors' fantasy reached. Sure, he invents more cruel things to happen to the boys, but there is no depth, no real point to the cruelty, and not much of a connection between the different plot parts. Side characters come and are used like meaningless props without much personality or history. The writing is simple and boring, the special vocab of the book kind of weird. Altogether, I found the book pretty bland. I have no desire to finish the triology.

Typischer Mittelband - langatmig
