Description
When a daring, high-tech CIA operation goes wrong and is disavowed, Michael Dunne sets out for revenge.
CIA operations officer Michael Dunne is tasked with infiltrating an Italian news organization that smells like a front for an enemy intelligence service. Headed by an American journalist, the self-styled bandits run a cyber operation unlike anything the CIA has seen before. Fast, slick, and indiscriminate, the group steals secrets from everywhere and anyone, and exploits them in ways the CIA can neither understand nor stop.
Dunne knows it’s illegal to run a covert op on an American citizen or journalist, but he has never refused an assignment and his boss has assured his protection. Soon after Dunne infiltrates the organization, however, his cover disintegrates. When news of the operation breaks and someone leaks that Dunne had an extramarital affair while on the job, the CIA leaves him to take the fall. Now a year later, fresh out of jail, Dunne sets out to hunt down and take vengeance on the people who destroyed his life.

Could have been a short story
Best part of this novel was the narrator.. Mr. Guidall is excellent. It also would be wise if authors kept their personal political views to themselves. Just like all the talking heads in the media.

Poor story with one -dimensional characters...
Characters are not at all believable. I won't revisit this author. Had it not been for George Guidell, I'd not have finished.

Excellent story!!
I enjoyed the story. Quick and easy to grasp. It really pulls on the emotions. Poor Dunne went to hell and back.
The one thing that did not fit, for “this story” was the reader. Main character is in his 30-40 and the presenter wasn’t right for the range of younger characters. He was great as the older characters. But ranging younger was difficult. But in no way does this observation take away from the production.

Good story with average narration
I am a fan of David Ignatius, and as usual, this story is very timely. I found the narration to be annoying, however, due to the distinctive phrasing and tone of the narration. I would have preferred not to be distracted from the story.

Another George Save
I've read most of David Ignatius's books and have enjoyed all of them. This latest was a bit confusing on first listen, so I may go back to it in the future. The section that deals with the loss of the child completely clobbered me; I cried and I don't do that very ofter (Beach Music Comes to mind). I felt that George saved this book, as I realized once again that D.I. is not Vince Flynn.

Strong story of a little stretched at times.
Narration as usual by George Guidall is excellent. The story is topical (fake news) although credibility is stretched at times. If you’ve liked prior Ignatius books you’ll probably like this one too.
