Description

Transform your home into a permanently clear and clutter-free space with the incredible KonMari Method. Japan's expert declutterer and professional cleaner Marie Kondo will help you tidy your rooms once and for all with her inspirational step-by-step method.

The key to successful tidying is to tackle your home in the correct order, to keep only the things you really love and to do it all at once - and quickly. After that for the rest of your life you need only to choose what to keep and what to discard.

The KonMari Method will not just transform your space. Once you have your house in order, you will find that your whole life will change. You can feel more confident, you can become more successful, and you can have the energy and motivation to create the life you want. You will also have the courage to move on from the negative aspects of your life: you can recognise and finish a bad relationship; you can stop feeling anxious; you can finally lose weight.

Marie Kondo's method is based on a 'once cleaned, never messy again' approach. If you think that such a thing is impossible, then you should definitely listen to this compelling audiobook.

It motivates to tidy up

It motivates to tidy up. It gives some handy tips for example tidy up by category. But getting rid of things that don't sparkle joy is simply not viable. Especially when you're a practical oriented person for example clothing are necessary, I'm not a glamour boy and clothes don't sparkle joy with me. Running around naked is not an option. The same for tools, equipment, administration etc. On the other hand it helps to question everything you have so you can get rid of useless things . All tips can be summerized in one article of a few pages.

Life-changing.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend who has too many things and too little "life". The author is telling about "the life-changing magic of tidying up" and I feel like almost every adult needs to know more about it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was definitely the book I wanted to listen in one sitting as I wanted to follow all the advises as soon as possible!

Felt like a self-assertive autobiography

I was looking forward to the hyped "domestic wisdom" of the book. I was however, disappointed after the first chapter. While the book starts you off with a very motivational chapter, it gets very repetitive and pushy right after that. I had to power through to finish the book infact because the material was beginning to sound so stretched out and unnecessarily lengthened. The narrator did an amazing job in every aspect, but the material *of* the book was intolerable due to the amount of boasting and self-assertion that was overbearingly repeated over and over again. All in all, I walked away with just two benefits: motivation to complete a decluttering process I had already started and a new way to fold and arrange clothes in drawers which I find to be aesthetically pleasing. If you wish to take tips and pointers, I would recommend one of the summaries available on Audible or hopping onto youtube for a quick search on decluttering the Marie Kondo way. You will get everything you need to know from either minus the boring stories, insufferable reptitiveness, and bragging.

Good read — More than learning how to tidy

The book emphasises on finding your ideal lifestyle, practice gratitude and decision making through tidying. It is a very mindful book and I would definitely try out her method.
I hope it focus a little bit more on storage methods though.

Learning detachment

The main message I hear from this book is detachment. Once you learn what is truly valuable for you, you start to live and enjoy much more who you are now, in the present.

A masterpiece

If you could sum up The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying in three words, what would they be?

Have never read anything like this on decluttering in my whole entire life. And I have really read a lot. The approach to decluttering is both spiritual, psychological and philosophical. Have listened to this book several times. Shall listen many more times. Very inspiring and motivating.

What other book might you compare The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying to and why?

No book on decluttering can compare to this one. I love Brian Tracy’s EAT THAT FROG and also listen to it over and over again. But it’s a book on time management. These are books which actually motivate you to change and take action. You just wish you knew them by heart.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book is absolutely unique in every respect. I cannot find words to express why. One has got to read it/listen to it in order to understand.

Any additional comments?

A must-read. Will transform your psyche and your life forever. In the most positive way you’d ever imagine.

Very VERY life-changing!

As I finish listening to this book, I find my self bidding goodbye to my first HUGE batch of clothing items I no longer need in my life. A task I dreaded in the past is now a healing process almost! I wish I had more hands and hours in the day to go through my house faster but I take it easy now that I understand things much better. The human thinking profess is so curious and interesting! I'll definitely get this book in the printed version, and I'll revisit it often in the future!

echte Hilfe

Bloody Brilliant!

I listened to it 3 times in a row!
It's almost like it's addressed to me personally as she goes through every item I was unsure about. I never would have believed I could part with so many items :)
The performance is wonderful, lovely friendly voice that brings the passion of the author to the surface.

Really life-changing

First I really like the speaker. It's very relaxing to listen. Second I could relate very much to what Marie Kondo has written. I am someone who likes tidying and putting things in order. At the same time it frustrates me because I feel like there is something I'm doing wrong. I will definitely try the method described in this book and I feel already that it will help me a lot. I'm looking forward to tidying my house and in doing so my whole life as well. Thank you for this book!
