Tiffany Haddish grew up in one of the poorest parts of South Central Los Angeles. Her mother wound up with a debilitating brain injury after surviving a car accident. Tiffany never fit in anywhere: not in the households she rotated through in the foster care system and certainly not at the nearly all white high school she had to ride the bus an hour to attend. As an illiterate ninth grader, Tiffany did everything she could to survive. After a multitude of jobs, she finally realized that she had talent in an area she never would have suspected: comedy. Tiffany faced the 'routine' hindrances of climbing the entertainment business ladder - but had the added obstacles of sex, race, and class in her way. But she got there. She's humble, grateful, down to earth, and funny as hell. She still cleans the toilet the way she was shown by a foster mom who worked as a maid, and she still rolls her joints the way one of her foster dads taught her.
Tiffany can't avoid being funny: It's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

i am a native french speaker and i really enjoyed listenning to tiffany's book! she is so funny and so reaaal! i love her and loved the book, and honestly wasnt expecting it..took me just a day to listen to it! and i don't regret it!...PS: never listenned to an audio book before

Funny and touching
This audiobook is super entertaining and Tiffany is great at telling stories. Some of them brought tears of laughter, but her story is also touching and sad. Her voice is very uplifting :)

Mixed feelings
First I found the book funny, then at some ppint I found it a little bit vulgar since there are a lot of "shit words" but I am aware of that being normal it such book and context especially with the hard experiences she lived. At the end I had mixed feelings between admiration of her persistance and courage and distance since the story is way far from my world. But I respect Tiffany history, I respect her. She lived not an easy life and I guess many people could find them selves in this book (which is not my case) but still I like her efforts and the way she turned drama into comedy! Funny book with good give away lessons.

I received the book as Christmas gift and I decided to purchase the audio...its a another level read along with Tiffany Haddish, the Nigerian princess kkkk
Story of overcoming, willpower even when life gives us the creeps.

I've been super happy as the content, having watched some shows and performance of this great Lady, ...was true format to be expected! ;-)
In fact if the content was differently presented ("polished") it wouldn't be as good.
Also I listened to the book and Tiffany is really funny!
Had some tears showing up as I ve been really surprised by ...
Sorry can t tell what.
it is a good unconventional book.

Interesting...
I saw her first on The Daily Show, and I thought she was hilarious. I copped this book think it'd be funny too. But, honestly it wasn't. It was actually very sad. Her story is quite moving and she is rather candid and revelatory of her flaws, which was what made this book worthwhile to me. Tiffany had no problem airing out her demons for the world to see. This whole thang was like a vicarious heart to heart and I totally dig it.

Sad it ended
This book was amazingly raw. I loved it and I love Tiffany even more.
I NEVER revisit an audiobook but as soon as I’m done telling you how amazing this book was I’m going to restart it all over again.

A must read!
This book will make you see that anything is possible no matter where you started in life while it makes you crack up the entire time. It’s The FASTEST AUDIBLE I have ever listened to. I kept making excuses to get on the car and drive so I could listen to more!!!!

The last black unicorn indeed!
I loved this book. I particularly enjoyed listening to Tiffany's voice as she narrated the story. And hearing about her experiences makes me admire her even more. Yes, she's a talented comic but most of all she's a super strong woman for having the fortitude to deal with her traumatic childhood & Adult experiences rather allowing these bad memories to envelope her and drown her. I wish her continued success, joy and happiness in all of her endeavors. This book has many life lessons & will revitalize your life!

Raw
Most memorable and favorite character was Roscoe. Tiffany has definitely done what others would never do or admit to doing. I love that she's 100% transparent and unapologetic about it. I wish more people were like her...living their truth whether good or bad.

I almost peed!
I loved every minute of this book. Tiffany Haddish is hilarious. Although her story is sometimes tragic, she's able to put a comedic spin on it. She makes you realize that no matter where you come from or how bad you life may be you can still rise.

Good read but a bit confusing.
This was a really good book. I could really relate. The story did jump around alot, so I found myself lost at times. You would think that this would be a funny story because she is a comedian. Couldn't be further from the truth. The story was painful, joyous and real. I'm glad she was able to tell her story. Good read.

Unapologetically Real
Couldn't stop listening!!! Tiffany is really amazing for sharing her life with us. I was able to connect with her through out this book and hope that any one who reads this is inspired by her courage ,tanacity and DGAF attitude as much as I was.

Supposed to be funny-made me sad.
I couldn’t finish the book, the language became too much and the flippant attitude toward abortion caused me to stop listening. I’m still a fan of Tiffany Haddish and applaud her overcoming so much adversity in her life. The book is just not for me.

You will laugh, seriously
This book is amazing. Tiffany takes you with her. Through her childhood, her youth and what it means to be grown. She had to grow a lot, very early. Whith eyes, seeing the world through pink glasses, even when life would throw one of its curved balls right at her. She always finds a solution and encourages you to concur your own troubles. You will fall in love with her kindness as well as her laugh.

Captivating but the voice…
