Description
The Classic Text Annotated to Update Graham's Timeless Wisdom for Today's Market Conditions
The greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, Benjamin Graham taught and inspired people worldwide. Graham's philosophy of "value investing" - which shields investors from substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies - has made The Intelligent Investor the stock market Bible ever since its original publication in 1949.
Over the years, market developments have proven the wisdom of Graham's strategies. While preserving the integrity of Graham's original text, this revised edition includes updated commentary by noted financial journalist Jason Zweig, whose perspective incorporates the realities of today's market, draws parallels between Graham's examples and today's financial headlines, and gives listeners a more thorough understanding of how to apply Graham's principles.
Vital and indispensable, this HarperBusiness Essentials edition of The Intelligent Investor is the most important book you will ever listen on how to reach your financial goals.

Required reading
For those interested in investing this book is an absolute must read (hear).
The source material can be dry and uninspiring but the underlying principles need to be heard, especially by the risk averse.
The only issue I had was the fact that diagrams are referenced which one can't see if u don't have the book itself.
This audio book and the written book should perhaps go together.

This book does not belong on audio
Save yourself the time and just google "value investing Benjamin Graham". Most of the book is spent convincing you of the concept with a myriad of examples, all from the late 19th and early 20th century. Rather than update the book, you get it as it was written decades ago with ancient examples one struggles to relate to and then at the end of the chapter the footnotes bring it up to date. Ben is always referencing tables and charts, which kind of defeats the purpose, for me at least, of an audio book. I highly respect Graham and value investing, but if your already convinced it's a good strategy, then you really just need chapters 14 and 15.

This book is not suitable for audible format
What did you like best about The Intelligent Investor Rev Ed.? What did you like least?
The book is outstanding. Rich material and time tested wisdom from one of the thought leaders and legendary investors of all time.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator has a monotone voice that makes it hard to follow the material.
Any additional comments?
As someone who has read the intelligent investor many times throughout the years, in my opinion this book is not meant to be listened to in an audible format. You will get much more out of the material by reading, digesting, pausing and sometime re-reading this unique piece of work.

Time tested principles of investing
This is consistent with my observations. Some stocks go up/down related to sentiment and lack of direct events.
I will listen to this again.
It would be ideal if the audiobook also had the charts referenced throughout the book... currently requires user to purchase both formats.

Would be 5 stars if this gets updated
Much of this book focuses it's analysis on the 1960s through 1970 as well as the tech bubble and subsequent crash (roughly 1999-2002.)
While many of Graham's fundamental principals are still applicable today, such as the importance of establishing a margin of safety, much of it focuses on individual and conservative stock picking. These days, similar exposure can be achieved by buying an index fund, a point Ben Zweig mentions in his commentary.
Further, many of the examples of extreme losses, irrational investors, and obscenely overpriced issues in the commentary (1999-2002) focus on tech stocks. It would be interesting to see this book updated to include examples during a period more characteristic of typical market conditions.

Great Foundation for Financial Education
Though this isnt the most exciting book in the world it is one of the most valuable. A great read for some one just starting to invest or even the season veteran who would be surprised to find they learned a thing or two. This book has been highly recommended for decades and still holds strong because the main focus, theory, principles, and strategies srill apply to today. I will definitely relisten to this audio tap with the hard copy of the book to follow along highlight and take notes. This book is worth it.

Why it's the No.1 Book On Investments
It's easy to see why Warren Buffet consider this "The best book ever written on investments ." Benjamin Graham's advice for the defensive investor (all of us regular people) is simple - DON'T TRY TO BEAT THE MARKET!

I bought this book as I was interested in starting to invest in stocks but I got more than I bargained for. I truly believe that everyone should read this book before investing not just in stocks but any kind of business. The book is situated for any level of investor, the commentary at the end of every chapter makes it easier and clearer to understand. As an entrepreneur, the book also gives you insight on what kind of aspects defines your business as successful and what your business image and culture should be built on.

Wasn't for me
As a rather average and occasional investor I thought that this book could give me the knowledge I needed for better understanding financial markets and investing smarter in future.
The book ist filled with dates and stock-courses especially from the US stock market history, so that it just got to arduous for me to listen further. This was the first time that I did not finish an audio book and regret the investment.
Also the speaker talks in a somewhat unmotivated way what also lead to this decision.
I wish I could have given a better feedback – but as the title says, the book wasn't for me.

not suited for audio
Extracting the great knowledge of this book is as tedious a job, as washing gold nuggets out of a riverbed, with a pan that has either too big, or no wholes at all. Brilliant knowledge presented by someone who doesn't know how to teach. A typical exert from anywhere in the book sounds like this: the bullrushmarked of 1969 was up 2.438 percent in comparison to early 1954 by a margin of 0.2314 percent, but reversed for the beginning bear market of 1975 that started in the first quarter of 1984 being ahead 0.54 percent compaerd to the second quarter of 1976 and thus proves to be an outstanding investment opportunity for the enterprising investor from the second quarter of 1976 to the first quarter of 1983, if you accept an annual dividentgain of 0.96 percent compared to 1956´s bull market dividend of 1.54 which is after the inflation an overall... you get the picture, imagine this for 17 hours. Buy as PDF or print, if you want to seriously work to extract knowledge from this book.
