Histoire
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Twenty-five years ago, Maggie Holt and her parents, Ewan and Jess, moved into Baneberry Hall, a rambling Victorian estate in the Vermont woods. Three weeks later they fled in the dead of night, an ordeal Ewan later recounted in a nonfiction book called House of Horrors. His horror memoir of ghostly happenings and encounters with malevolent spirits became a worldwide phenomenon, rivaling The Amityville Horror in popularity — and skepticism.

Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. In Truly Madly Guilty, Liane Moriarty takes on the foundations of our lives: marriage, sex, parenthood, and friendship. She shows how guilt can expose the fault lines in the most seemingly strong relationships, how what we don't say can be more powerful than what we do, and how sometimes it is the most innocent of moments that can do the greatest harm.

Great performances, but story was a let down
The plot was very generic. Poor girl envies rich popular girl. Shallow characters. Great performances made it listenable.

Predictable all round
Murder Mystery that isn’t that mysterious. Overall story and outcome too predictable for my liking. Holding off on the revealing of the victims name for a while didn’t exactly make it more of a thrilling listen. Characters are flat and too cliché, as is the entire story. Not sure if I am mad about the voices and the Scottish accent either. As a whole entire story and especially the ending leaves me feeling a little empty and flat.
