In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call.

Dan Strange encourages Christians to engage with everything they watch, to read and play in a positive and discerning way. He also teaches Christians how to think and speak about culture in a way that plugs in to a bigger and better reality - the story of King Jesus, and his cosmic plan for the world. It's possible to watch TV and read novels and play video games in a way that actually feeds our faith, rather than withers it. It's even possible for you - yes, you - to be that person who starts off talking to a mate about last night's football and ends up talking about Jesus.

In this disruptively inspiring audiobook, Chandler offers tangible ways to develop a faith of pursuing, chasing, knowing, and loving Jesus. Because if we clean up our lives but don't get Jesus, we've lost! So let the goal be Him. To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain - this is the message of the letter. Therefore, our lives should be lived to Him, through Him, for Him, with Him, about Him - everything should be about Jesus.

This book calls believers to reject superficiality and revolutionize their lives by embracing a God-guided approach to prayer. Previously published as A Call to Spiritual Reformation, this book has now been updated to connect more effectively with contemporary listeners.

What does it mean to say that we live in a secular age? Almost everyone would agree that we - in the West, at least - largely do. And clearly the place of religion in our societies has changed profoundly in the last few centuries. In what will be a defining book for our time, Charles Taylor takes up the question of what these changes mean - of what, precisely, happens when a society in which it is virtually impossible not to believe in God becomes one in which faith, even for the staunchest believer, is only one human possibility among others.

Human beings were created to reflect the image of God - but only to a limited extent. Although we share important attributes with God (love, mercy, compassion, etc.), there are other qualities that only God possesses, such as unlimited power, knowledge, and authority. At the root of all sin is our rebellious desire to be like God in such ways - a desire that first manifested itself in the Garden of Eden. In None Like Him, Jen Wilkin leads us on a journey to discover 10 ways God is different from us - and why that's a good thing.

The 1960s heralded a sexual revolution, transforming society's vision for sex and relationships. With an appealing narrative of freedom and authenticity, the revolution won the hearts and minds of many. The church's leaders and faltering apologists seemed overwhelmed. And biblical Christians tended to react defensively rather than offering a compelling vision of their own. Many young Christians were questioning whether the Gospel really is good news in this area.

With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

Histoire
Many of us have big questions that the Christian faith seems to leave unanswered. So we push them to the back of our minds, for fear of destabilising our beliefs. But leaving these questions unexamined is neither healthy for us nor honouring to God. Rather than shying away from the difficult questions, we need to face them head on.
Description
It can no longer be assumed that most people - or even most Christians - have a basic understanding of the Bible. Many don’t know the difference between the Old and New Testament, and even the more well-known biblical figures are often misunderstood. It is getting harder to talk about Jesus accurately and compellingly because listeners have no proper context with which to understand God’s story of redemption. In this basic introduction to faith, D. A. Carson takes seekers, new Christians, and small groups through the big story of scripture. He helps listeners to know what they believe and why they believe it. The companion leader’s guide helps evangelistic study groups, small groups, and Sunday school classes make the best use of this book in group settings.
D. A. Carson is research professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is the author or editor of more than 40 books and is one of the leaders of the Gospel Coalition.

I will listen to this one again
This book is insightful and thought provoking. It is a book worthy of my resources of time and money. It is very interesting and beneficial to listen to. Also it was excellently narrated. I'm very selective and discerning so this short review is saying a lot.

Great intro to the biblical storyline
D.A. Carson, as one might expect, does a wonderful job of both presenting the storyline of the Bible as a whole, but also doing so in a winsome and thoroughly understandable manner. This book is for both those who want a clear outline of the Bible, but also for those who are curious about what the Bible is all about.

Great comprehensive overview
Five stars. Great comprehensive overview of the Bible written with seekers and newcomers to the Bible in mind.
However, I was alarmed that the author didn't conclude the book with applicable next steps for someone who is ready to invite "the God who is there" into their life as Lord and Savior. Or at least where to go from here?
A personal and perhaps pastoral invitation to the reader would have been an equipping conclusion to the book.

Like reading a text book
Listening to this book took me back to sitting in a collage lecture. You are listening to someone give their idea of what something means with no emotion at all and some of the interpretations seemed hard to swallow even if he did talk like he believed any of it.
