This novella, which takes us back to the very beginning of Holmes and Watson's relationship, reintroduces Holmes’s feisty PA Mrs Hudson, droll academic Dr Martin Roche, and bemused restaurateur Todd Mitchell, all who lend Holmes their particular talents to help him bring the guilty to justice.
