What happens when Caleb, the resident hapless hobo, abruptly exits the world and comes face-to-face with a divine essence whom he cannot claim or name? Welcome to The Expanse, where you'll join two socially stigmatized souls on a timely yet timeless quest of self, as well as social and spiritual acceptance. It is a story that is sure to soften the religious rigidity and challenge the intrinsic biases of even the most accepting and enlightened of listeners. Open your mind to new perspectives and get ready to dance with the derelict on a not-so-fictional evolutionary journey of faith, fellowship, and socio-spiritual freedom.

About the author: Rev. Ryan Althaus is a neurodivergent minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and regional inclusion affiliate of the San Jose Presbytery. His role as the minister of interfaith relations for the Santa Cruz Unitarian Universalist Fellowship keeps him engaged with the full array of faith traditions and the a vast variety of social subsects. Having attempted homelessness in several cities and having danced the lines of gender identity, Althaus' experiential wisdom around topics of LGBTQ+ equality and social stigmatization pour out of his prose and preaching. You can further engage with Rev. Ryan via his site, and if ever in Santa Cruz, by hopping on his sailboat for one of his trademark weekly "Salty Sermons".
