In 1971, Arnold Passman's The Deejays was the first book to closely examine the rise of the disc jockey - the tribal chieftains who manipulate (and possibly create) popular taste with every spin of the turntable. It became the "go-to" reference book on the subject for decades thereafter.
From Martin Block to "Jazzbo" Collins, Alan Freed to Murray the K, Wolfman Jack to Rosko, this is the definitive saga of the men behind the music. Long out-of-print, this volume is now presented in digital form for the first time.
Included is a never-before-published afterword from the author. "How We Hate to Get Up in the Morning" details the 70+ year history of powerful wake-up radio.
