À propos de cette écoute
“Thank You Father” serves a dual purpose: to express deep appreciation for the lessons and support received from my father and to explain my decision to change my name. I acknowledge the potential for disagreement and misunderstanding, especially given the generational differences between us. This is a heartfelt attempt to bridge that gap, share formative memories, and convey the respect and love that underlies this significant life change.
“Thank You Father” is more than just an explanation for a name change, this is a tribute to our father-son relationship. I recount specific childhood memories—a moment of kindness during a difficult time in third grade, a lesson in sportsmanship learned through a teasing game of Madden, and guidance on navigating a complex relationship with their mother. These anecdotes illustrate my father's positive influence and the lasting impact of his parenting, even as I forge my own path and identity. It is my attempt to truly connect with my father.
Facing a major life change, I reflect on my relationship, acknowledging the limited understanding we have of each other's lives and experiences. It’s a journey through shared history, marked by respect and gratitude. I share pivotal moments that shaped my character and expresses a desire for continued understanding and a strong bond, even as they navigate differing perspectives. A special thanks to my father. I would never be who I am without you. I know what you mean to me and meant to my life and I want to give you a thank you.
