The review is for the whole series, not just this book.
I kind of liked the premise, a teenage girl living through a sort of apocalypse, fighting for her right to survive in an absurd qualification challenge that is presented to the Earth people by their distant relatives. Surprise, she qualifies (otherwise we wouldn't have the 4 books), and then has to go through other similar ordeals because life is just that cruel.
Everything is written from the POV of the teenage girl, thus the language seems very appropriate. Not sure if I liked the "abstinence until mariage" thing but ok, to each their own.
So far so good. However, i shouldn't have read the last book (this one). No more ordeals left, so let's add some other aliens that want to kill everyone and can be vanquished by the song of love. Ok, not really, but close enough... I kind of see what the author wanted to do here, but they didn't succeed with this book.
