Actually some new stuff for me...

I've read a LOT I. the fields of success. psychology, philosophy, spiritually etc.

I don't actively look for "something new" but rather for new viewpoints and a deeper understanding.

This was my first (not last) exposure to the author. He has a couple unique viewpoints. Some things I'd never considered. The book is deep and definitely a keeper. Read it.

If I had one beef with the book it's that it occasionally takes on a slightly judgemental tone. Especially, he repeatedly talks about restaurants and wait staff. I would venture a guess that he's never done it based upon his criticism. Yes, it is criticism and not in a round about way.

To anyone who's been in the business it's a source of eternal frustration that people have these universal criticisms ONLY if they've never done it.

It's not just that but the fact that he criticizes that is a little less favourable. It's not just the criticism but it takes 1/3 of the space of the book. I feel the points could have been made without it.

That said, the book is excellent even still.

It starts slow so be patient. The last 3 chapters are where it's at. hang in there.

Very basic

This was discovered in 2015. Consequently, I didn't realize it was actually written in the 1990s. It's pretty basic business info. None of the material from his later books is included. While that makes sense, given that it predates Eye of the I, Power v Force, etc by several years, it was still disappointing.

It's not bad. It's just very basic. Given the time investment in listening, I'd recommend choosing some of Hawkins' later works, which are exceptional.

Hmm...

It was difficult to enjoy this audio book as most of the chapters are filled with complaints about restaurants and the word "boring" was used repeatedly... which makes it... dare I say, boring? I understand using examples of bad customer service in restaurants to illustrate how people fail but to use it over and over and for so many chapters, it just becomes tedious. It is clear to me that Mr. Hawkins must have his diet soda, thousand island dressing, ginger ale, etc, to feel satisfied and for the check to arrive on demand. But rather than learning about success by the end of the book, all I kept thinking was "Maybe he should open up his own restaurant and apply all the rules/things he likes." Suffice to say, I didn't get much from this. Unfortunately.

Love, Understanding, Communication, Kindness, & Yourself

Having now listened to this audio book four times, I’ve felt compelled to write this contrast. Hawkins surmises his journey to succeed with ingenuity, thoroughly. From being a clever pupil paying his way through medical school to an acclaimed postdoctoral practitioner of medicine in his life, he achieves the outlines of a notable figure of great sensibility. This book, his final one, has been a great beginning to build on my ever expanding knowledge of him as a person. Lownds narrates the text perfectly with a seemingly folksy grandfatheresque tone throughout. It’s his audible expertise that kept me enthralled and willing to relisten to it as many times that I did. To those interested in a book that can serve as an excellent primer for rational notoriety, this is a smash success. Incidentally, another great book out there that can be an excellent follow up is written by Jess Lair. Though I’m personally unaware if these two men knew each other, they both serve to help their fellow human being better edify themself.

Very Enjoyable

This book is an excellent book to read after Letting Go. There are some exercises in the book that I have yet to try, but they sound promising in aligning with the success vibration.

Hawkins fan, but this was disappointing.

Unfortunately very basic and dated. When I got to the part where he praises WalMart for its great quality and atmosphere, I just could not take it anymore.

don't expect much

sounds like he wrote the book either before all others. the doctor sounds like a grumpy old person with nothing but complaints on how businesses act like and projecting his feelings and experience on others. a quote that's unlike him if you read his other books "I always thought that we're judged on our death bed on wether or not we did our best in life"

I understand why he never published it himself

It's a terrible book. Half of it hits ramblings about all the business/restaurants that did him wrong. He obviously wrote it while hanging out in lower states of consciousness... Honestly I'm on chapter 6 and I physically feel this book dragging me down. Not sure if I'll finish it. Might need to skip couple of chapters...
