Description
From the best-selling author of Help, Thanks, Wow comes an honest, funny book about how to make sense of life's chaos.
What do we do when life lurches out of balance? How can we reconnect to one other and to what's truly important when evil and catastrophe seem inescapable?
These questions lie at the heart of Stitches, Anne Lamott's captivating follow-up to her New York Times best-selling Help, Thanks, Wow. In this book, Lamott explores how and where we find meaning in our modern, frantic age, especially after personal and public devastation; how we recapture peace and balance after loss; and how we locate our spiritual identities in these frazzled times. We begin, Lamott says, by collecting the ripped shreds of our emotional and spiritual fabric and sewing them back together, one stitch at a time. It's in these stitches that the quilt of life begins, and embedded in them are strength, warmth and humanity.

Lifesaver for me
I got this book when I was going through a really difficult time (death, betrayal, general ugliness), and I not exaggerating when I say that some days I listened to this over and over. I loves me some Anne Lamott!

Emotional B-12 shot.
Anne and my dogs keep me afloat. Love it that she narrates her own books.

Great spiritual book!
I really enjoyed this book as it was spiritual but without overt denominational influence. It was very inclusive and had a good heart to it. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

Surprisingly, Ms. Lamott is weak as a narrator.
Would you consider the audio edition of Stitches to be better than the print version?
No.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stitches?
I can't remember much other than how surprised I was at Ms. Lamott's narration style.
What didn’t you like about Anne Lamott’s performance?
She is among the most uninspired and uninspiring narrators I have experienced. Her monotone and too rapid narration takes all the life out of her beautiful prose. It was as if she just wanted to get through it as fast and with as little effort as possible.
Any additional comments?
A fine narrator would have made this fine collection of exquisitely written and inspiring stories a joy to experience.

Boring, boringer, oh my god, really?
The narration on this book is too fast, I tried slowing it to x.75 but it seemed even more robotic. I couldn't get into this book whatsoever. I am asking for a refund. I was so full of hope for this book being an answer to my current place of hopelessness. Maybe I'll get a hard copy from the library and see if I can READ it.

Just what I needed to hear today!
Thank you! I needed to hear genuine, practical yet spiritual truth and direction. I reached for Ann Lamott knowing she would offer insight, humor and hope! One Day at a Time I will continue to sing slightly out of tune and stitch together patches of my life.

sweet installment from favorite author
Annie Lamott has been a favorite of mine for decades. Her books are so poignant, moving and completely hilarious. I'm not normally someone who laughs or cries reading books, and with her I do both. Her deadpan delivery suits me fine. I think of this book as a collection of essays rather than a handbook. It is short, so note that when gauging the price (or getting it on special). The first book I read by her was Operating Instructions, and that one will always hold a special place in my heart. But I enjoyed this one as much as any of hers, and it is representative of her work if you want to have a relatively short listen that will give you a sense of whether her style of writing or narration is for you. If you are already a fan, I highly recommend.

Anne Lamott always delivers
Loved it. Anne Lamott has a soothing candace in her story telling. She tells the truth of life... the good bad ugly and the hope that is in all of it.
