A masterpiece

An absolutely fascinating story that had me guessing until the end. Special mention must go to the author's vivid and wonder-filled descriptions of the location setting; they elevate this work tremendously and create the constant sense of an eerie paradise on the edge of the world. Excellent narration throughout.

One of the best book series this year

Absolutely loved this book! How could you not love a book that starts with a character digging a grave? This story twist and turns so many times and it is hard to know who can be trusted. It is a book that you will want to keep listening to, you need to know what is going to happen next.... fantastic!

Far-fetched

I sometimes wonder who decides on the enticers on the cover: Why would it say "a perfect crime'? Actually, at the start there is no crime, only a moral decision that the couple fail to take. How the heroine gets herself involved in crime later on sounds more than far-fetched (she must be a total idiot!). How her husband gets dragged into this is not clear from the story, but he turns out to be a traitor (which could not be inferred from his behavior at all and is unconvincing). Eddie is another character who acts strangely, and the Holly-story seems to be unnecessary embellishment. The end is a let-down. One star seems more than enough for this 'page-turner'.
