Although this book contains many accounts of abuse that my siblings and I were subjected to as children, this book, however, is not designed to make anyone feel sorry for us. We have survived the abuse and are doing very well. This book was written to give hope to children who are or have been abused. It has also been written to open the eyes of parents who abuse their children. I know that I cannot stop abuse in America just by writing a book about it, but if I can show people that abuse is everywhere, maybe right next door to them, just maybe we can all begin to take a firm stand against abuse of children. I hope this opens the eyes of America to the violent side of humanity - the violence against our own children.
