August 1977. He is only known by the name he gives the police. His crime scenes quickly become legendary in depicting their bizarre cruelty. His taunting letters lead to no clues—only more questions.
Officer Jennifer King has just been promoted to detective. Her first case lands her in a strange set of serial killings, where the unknown man leaves letters promising that "in the end...you will honor me". The killer describes his work as something that will "redefine the age we live in", promising to become more than legend and a figure that will be remembered forever. Most police on the force write the unknown killer off as a lunatic...someone living under the illusion of grandeur...but there is something so familiar about his letters. Too familiar.
