It’s 1888. While American audiences are in awe of seeing authentic Indians in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and in London, where locals are being terrorized by the serial killer, Jack the Ripper, the small kingdom of Vassalia is being threatened by warring factions. The threat comes from within the country as well as the military juggernaut that is its neighbor, Savalonia, from without. The only thing standing in their way is an expatriated Filipino, Edmund Agbayani. Once an ally of the Filipino reformer, Jose Rizal, he was a practicing medical doctor till his fiancée tried to kill him.
Agbayani then falls in love with the beautiful princess of this threatened nation. Now, he must face gigantic airships and flying machines resembling four-masted galleons.
His allies are a Japanese American spy, an immortal female pirate, and a crew of carny sideshow performers.
To save the day, our hero must survive a goggle-wearing, brass-gear, clockwork shadow world. What happens next is the story left to tell.
