Avis de l'équipe

Safe Harbor is a lesbian romance and the first of seven stories in the Provincetown series.

Narrated with breathy uplift by Nicol Zanzarella, we follow Provincetown’s new deputy sheriff, Reese Conlon, a tough, smart, beautiful, and suddenly available woman. Sherrif Conlon’s swagger puts the women of Provincetown in a tizzy, but it is the brilliant Dr. Victoria "Tory" King who ultimately wins her affections. Yet the flame of new love is often at its brightest right before it flickers and dwindles down to nothing. Will the pair’s passionate relationship sustain the ordinary pains of regular life?

Several other subplots are interwoven in this poignant - and often very steamy – "slice of life" story.

Description

A mysterious newcomer, a reclusive doctor, and a troubled gay teenager learn about love, friendship, and trust during one tumultuous summer in Provincetown. Reese Conlon, LtCol USMCR, is the new sheriff who has heads turning amidst speculation as to who will be the first woman to capture her attentions. Doctor Victoria King has been betrayed by love once and refuses to risk heartbreak again. Brianna Parker, the teenaged daughter of Reese's chief, fears her father’s wrath when he learns that she loves another girl. As these three women struggle to live and love in freedom, they risk their hearts and souls to give one another a safe harbor.

My favorite Radclyffe series!

What did you love best about Safe Harbor?

I love this book. I love this series. I personally found Radclyffe by mistake, I was tired or reading Nicholas Sparks books about straight couples. Great books but I wanted something I could relate to a little more. I started with the Honor series, then Justice Series and finally with the Provincetown Tales. These are by far my favorite. I love Reese. She is everything I wish I was so I guess I am like Bri. In Safe Harbor you get little pieces of who Reese is and there is so many different back stories that make you feel like this isn't a fictional character it could be someone who know. The characters really come to life. I had a lot more written then discovered I was writing spoilers so I deleted it. Seriously please read this book its amazing.

What did you like best about this story?

Can I say everything? I loved this book. I love this series. I think what I loved the most is the fact that while the book is about two woman falling in love, it touches on so many different social issues. It is just a beautiful story.

Have you listened to any of Nicol Zanzarella’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but she did the entire series and she is great. Not as good as Betsy Zajko but leagues above Abby Craden. She has a beautiful voice and you can easily get lost in her voice and Radclyffes words.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was. I do not want to talk about it because it gives away some really special parts of the book. I would say in this book I can easily think of 3 different times I was moved.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to this series at least 4 times and am working on my 5th time. It is such a great story, I hope she writes more for it soon.

Our Kids... With Fierce Passion and Pride

The topic of loneliness and uncertainty of LGBTQ youth, our kids, is handled with grace and understanding. Some of us can still remember that time in our lives. Paired with that is the introduction to an adult love between the scars of one woman's heart and the near innocence of another's. If only love could be that brilliant, passionate, and simple. This is a Great series of stories filled with an equally great series of complex characters. Someday I'll visit Provincetown....

Narrator didnt do it justice...

I've read the series... and was happy when i saw this on the romance package. very disappointed with the narrator.. she was breathing so heavily and the voice overs for Reese was too stoic... didn't get the feel at all... think audible should put more variations on the voices so one can choose when buying or getting the books..

I give up

Maybe two stars was a little harsh for story but it was getting so over done towards the end maybe not.
Two things put me of here the repetitiveness of the story the same fell and dialog was getting a bit thin, I always enjoyed and looked forward to Radclyffe's story's in the lesbian short stories audible has but perhaps that's the problem length, filling holes in her story's with sex seances that are not terribly imaginative ,the last few I have read fell like it's a race to get to the end rushed and clunky.
Right if you have decided that Radcyffe is for and you don't care for my opinion that's cool but please beware of this narrator for some reason she takes a sharp breath before every sentence I was amazed she didn't pass out from lack of oxygen I found it very disruptive perhaps you like like that kind of thing but personally I'm done...

P-Town Romance

Radlyffe’s particular brand of tough ladies, and opposites attract lesbian romance, always draws me in.

In “Safe Harbor” we are in Provincetown where the city’s new deputy sheriff is a cut above. Tough, beautiful and mysterious she's the envy of her co-workers and catches all the ladies' eyes.

Her counterpart Dr.Victoria Parker is reserved and reclusive, but there’s smoldering chemistry that increases with every meeting.

Radclyffe’s story is a satisfying emotional experience with well drawn characters and not a few surprises in the plot.

Nicol Zanzarella’s reading is smart and sexy. I could feel the sea breeze in her voice.

Disappointing

I had looked forward to the series about Sheriff Reese Colon in Provincetown but i was disappointed that the story was so ‘sappy’. Reese, the main character, is much too innocent and too good to be true, just not a believable character. I finished the story but i wouldnt recommend it or listen to it a second time.

Great Ptown references

I have been visiting Provincetown for over 30 years. The author does a nice job of describing the nuances of the area. The narrating was difficult to listen to. I have listened to other books read by her and she didn’t make things seems as breathy and dramatic. The entire book sounded like an agonizing drawn out horror movie. The characters aren’t dramatic. Knowing the area, it would have felt more authentic and relatable with a different style of narration.

The narrator is what Rad needs.

I always felt her stories ran short but I’ve finally figured out that it’s the different narrators in the series that mess them up. This one is perfect.
