Description

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident. I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed - her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left... I didn’t. I didn’t jump out. I didn’t get embarrassed. I relaxed.

And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved. I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept. The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have. He became my sanctuary. Because - four hours earlier - my twin sister killed herself.

One of Tijan's Better Books!

This book was typical of Tijan's writing style and based on high school aged kids, but it was not her typical style of spoiled, over indulgent children with daddies black amex cards. The writing was serious, the subject intense, the struggle, therapy and hurdles were real and not made lightly. Truly one of her better bookd by far. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a girl meets boy, boy has morals and values, girl has some issues but so does the boy and together without harming the other - they come out from the darkness into the light.

Ryan's Bed

Again I went in blind and wow what I ride, this wasn’t anything like any of the other books I have ready by Tijan.

I don’t know if it was Therese Plummer’s narration or the fact this story just sucks you in. But I couldn’t put it down. I was enthralled.

Unlike the last book, I read where the College aged characters were immature. These High School teenagers were mature. Did they do dumb things? Sometimes yes but you expect that from seniors in high school. Acting out and being D I n K s that is just normal for teenagers.

The subject matter is pretty heavy, and I was so surprised with how well the story was told and explained it felt so very real to me. I had a few moments of emotion, not like that really isn’t new for me I am a big softy but this story will pull at your heartstrings and the ending.. POWERFUL.

Therese Plummer is AMAZING there are no other words to describe her performance in this book but that. Thank you for your incredible talent.

This book was achingly beautiful and sad. The journey and emotional rollercoaster Tijan created is unmatched.

Ryan's bed is a safe haven

Mac's twin sister has killed her self! Her parents left her and her little brother with a family, none of them really know. In the middle of the night, she confused the doors and landed in Ryan's bed where she found peace.

So it began!

Instead of mourning together, the family is falling slowly apart. The little brother gets shipped to a boarding school, the parents bury themselves in work and they don't want to look at Mac because she looks the same as her sister but isn't.

Ryan helps her deal and slowly heal, but first she falls apart.

The narration is great!
Therese Plummer is perfect as Mac. She gets her attitude perfect without sounding monotone!

One of my all time favorites from Tijan

Therese Plummer did an excellent job at narrating. I think she was able to portray the emotions of Mackenzie very well.

A Very Moving Story

What happens to the people left behind by suicide? That's the reality for Mackenzie when her twin sister commits suicide the summer before their senior year. Told in first person, this story let's you in on the emotional, physical, and mental torment she has to bear. Through her eyes, we see her realize the toll her sister's final action takes on her family.
This book is so much more than a typical coming of age romance story. The romance about young love is definitely there. But, it also addresses a very real subject and will keep you invested right up to and well past the ending. It stays with the reader afterwards. Even as I write this review, my thoughts are still wrapped around the meaning behind the words.
Theres Plummer was the perfect match for bringing to Mackenzie's world to life. She captured the emotions and provoked the necessary imagery to grab hold of and the listener's ear.
I am not a reader/listener who relistens or rereads books often. This book however will be one I want to listen to again and again, knowing I'm going to come away each time with something new to think about.

Racey Juvenal Fiction

Not only does this book tackle the hard subjects head on it is a sexual awakening as well. There is an air of mystery up to the last page and twists that come out of no where!

hmmm...

I don't want to bias your opinion with my own because this really was a good story. I always seem to enjoy whatever web Tijan crafts. I'm just a little conflicted with how this one ended. It felt abrupt to me and left me a bit jangled. Maybe that was the point. But I still deducted a star for it. Although it was probably balanced out by the performance score since the narration was spot on. I definitely had the impression of high school voices throughout despite the sometimes heavy subject matter. Speaking of which, I don't think I'm spoiling anything by noting that if suicide is a trigger for you, you might want to pass on this one. The topic features prominently. Happy listening! 😊

Perfectly crafted story! Unexpected ending.

After reading this book, it kept me thinking the whole time and I even had sleepless nights. Heartbreaking story. Intense and captivating moments. That ending....WOW! A standing ovation. My first read from Tijan and I am so in awe how a great writer she is and story teller. The narrator, Therese Plummer, deserves an award for perfectly voice acting Mackenzie and the the other characters. Awesome and perfect narration. You could feel Tijan's words come alive by the talented narrator.
