The book timely chapters by Dr. Lester W. Grau and Dr. Charles K Bartles titled:

The Airborne Mechanized Raid: A Russian Concept - In Russian military science, a “raid” does not have a single, strict definition.

Describing Russian Infantry’s Breaching and Clearing Techniques - Breaching entryways and clearing buildings, particularly in urban combat, are particularly complex and dangerous infantry tasks.

ATP 7-100.1 describes Russian tactics for use in Army training, professional education, and leader development. This document is part of the ATP 7-100 series that addresses a nation-state’s military doctrine with a focus on army ground forces and tactical operations in offense, defense, and related mission sets. Other foundational topics include task organization, capabilities, and limitations related to military mission and support functions. ATP 7-100.1 serves as a foundation for understanding how Russian ground forces think and act in tactical operations. This publication presents multiple examples of functional tactics in dynamic operational environment conditions. The tactics in this ATP are descriptive and provide an orientation to tactics gathered from Russian doctrine, translated literature, and observations from recent historical events.

This ATP is not meant to represent how the Russians are currently fighting in Ukraine. Many insights and observations can be collected daily to either affirm or refute Russian doctrinal strategies and tactics, but it’sfar too early to acknowledge any definitive changes in doctrine. The Military District and unit diagrams in this ATP may be affected based on early observations of the conflict in Ukraine. With so many Russian unitsnow in Ukraine, it will take some time to determine a new laydown of forces if that becomes necessary.
