    Description

The #1 personal finance book of all time... translated into dozens of languages and sold around the world.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert's story of growing up with two dads - his real father and the father of his best friend, his rich dad - and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you.

    20 Years... 20/20 Hindsight
In the 20th anniversary edition of this classic, Robert offers an update on what we’ve seen over the past 20 years related to money, investing, and the global economy. Sidebars throughout the book will take listeners “fast forward” - from 1997 to today - as Robert assesses how the principles taught by his rich dad have stood the test of time.

In many ways, the messages of Rich Dad Poor Dad, messages that were criticized and challenged two decades ago, are more meaningful, relevant and important today than they were 20 years ago.

As always, listeners can expect that Robert will be candid, insightful... and continue to rock more than a few boats in his retrospective.

Will there be a few surprises? Count on it.

    Rich Dad Poor Dad...

    • Explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to become rich
    • Challenges the belief that your house is an asset
    • Shows parents why they can't rely on the school system to teach their kids about money
    • Defines once and for all an asset and a liability
    • Teaches you what to teach your kids about money for their future financial success

Dope book to begin your journey of financial literacy

I just downloaded the book and only in the first few chapters but I’m already learning things that I haven’t heard before! I love it so far and recommend to anyone looking to get out of the “rat race”. Also take a look at the pdf files included with the book. In order to do so go to the desktop version of your audible account and go to library, there is where you’ll be able to download the PDFs

if you've read the original, this is too similar

I wouldn't recommend getting this if you've read the original since it seems like the only changes are a bit in the beginning and breaks in between chapters to summarize and review. If you have trouble reflecting on what you've read, then the review sections may be of more use to you. It's still an amazing book and this is the definitive version if you're just getting it for the first time.

Great Book - No Access to PDF of tables & graphs

The book is great and so is the performance of the narrator. But without access to the PDF of the information they mention in some of the chapters, I feel as though I'm missing out on something.

Good book, but terribly cut for audible

This book is pretty good, and confirms a lot of things I’ve come to realize on my own over the years. I must say the first 2/3 or so of the book is really solid, but it gets less insightful and the advice more sketchy toward the end. Unfortunately, the audible version is cut terribly. It makes no sense to have the study questions from chapter n at the start of chapter n + 1. These should be totally separate chapters in an audiobook. Really disappointed that audible screwed this up so bad.

Even though updated, it's traditional advice

I really wanted to like this book, but what got to me was the constant repetition like I was a 5 year old. Beyond that, there were some good concepts and things to think about. Most of it, however, felt very old and traditional, and not what would work well in 2019. It's a different economic climate now than it was when the book was originally written, and the tone and overall principles were not updated--they feel very 1980s. Comments like "That's what friends are for" (to give you great tips on good investments) and advice like "get and maintain rich friends" are kind of inauthentic for younger generations. I also found a lot of talk about things, but no instruction on how to actually implement anything. Overall I'm afraid I can't recommend this book.

Don’t buy! Waste of time & money!

This book is a terrible waste of time and money!! I got it to learn about investing and finance, and there is ZERO useful information in this book! The writer may be an awesome investor that made millions, but he is extremely stringy with his knowledge. He is a true salesman that talks a lot and says VERY little. The content is very superficial and dumbed-down from beginning to end, practically treating his readers like idiots, and the same few concepts are repeated over and over and over again... like how important it is to have financial IQ (no kidding!! That’s why we purchased the book!!) but makes zero attempts to teach anything about it. And how having a house is a liability, not an asset (repeated so many times that I started skipping forward whenever he started talking about this again). I kept going on though, hoping that maybe he’ll get to the point in the next chapter... then the next... but nope! This book is AWFUL! Thank God that Audible allows you to exchange this with something else so I can rid of this crap asap. But you want to listen to a lame, 8-hour informercial about how smart he is, then buy this book

Tideous summaries at end of each chapter

Interestinf book, but it was unnecessarily stretched out by thw exercise sessions. Sometimes the same sentence would then be repeated 2-3 times. And even a 15 minute segmebt would be summarized in another 5 minutes, just after listening to it. I'm all for summaries, but here it was too much and I felt it's wasting my time. Other than that an okay book with a clean message regarding financial intelligence. In one sentence I think the book says "Use your brain to earn more money and have it work for you". However, most examples used in the book are about real estate deals from a time, where one could buy a duplex valued at 50'000$ with almost no money down (2000$). Today the system has beem improved and such irresponsible deals are no longer possible. Ask 2008 why those deals were irresponsible.

    Neo-capitalistic and self-centered worldview

The book is written very repetitive and has a neo-capitalistic worldview from the 70s. Yes, I am pretty sure the techniques and ideas in this book will make you personally rich, but at whose expense is never asked. Outdated and egocentric. Kiyosaki considers paying taxes a bad thing, because the state is taking money away from you. He never asks why and what taxes are good for. If everybody would follow the book's main-credo "mind your own business" the sick and the disabled would just die like in the dark ages. I recommend reading / listening to "7 habits of highly effective people" if you have not done it yet. It has a holistic worldview and is not only focused on your own bank account.

    Too little pracmatic advise

Instead of giving techiques the auther talks a lot about comparing rich to poor people. So its primarily about enhancing the need to be as rich as your neighbour. Otherwise you are a lesser human. Would habe liked more actual skills than just talk about feelings that dont get you anywhere but maybe make you just feel uncomfortable or angry against nothing specific actually.

    Basic but Characterful

Much of this book is an exercise in getting to know Robert Kiyosaki's mindset – and thereby also that of his "Rich Dad." The points are kept basic and general, and intertwined with autobiographical stories. If you are used to being responsible for money, chances are that many topics will feel familiar. I liked the clarity of goals and reasoning, and some of the advice, like the focus on learning and information in investment, matches other success stories very well. The book makes no attempt to – and shows no interest in – justifying the creation of wealth from a macroeconomic stand-point. It simply shares perspectives that helped its author increase his personal wealth. It therefore shows no opinion on the politics of money, other than recommending to minimize tax payments within any legal possibilities. Some reviewers complain about this; I wouldn't say it is a problem, since it is unreasonable to expect one book to talk about everything. There are weak points in the reasoning, and some bits rely on personality quirks like better performance when putting yourself under pressure. If you happen to be similar to the author, this can be useful, but I'm not sure all parts will work the same way for everyone. Also, I found the some of the underlying motivations for money a bit vain. "Buying my first Porsche" is not something I'd personally list as a life achievement, and so these portions irked the more ideological capitalist in me. But they are not integral to the book's usefulness. There is also quite a bit of repetition, especially on the core concepts. Overall, I found it a good read and was inspired to think about the unnecessary liabilities in my life. The book also reaffirmed the value of continuous learning. I think there's a good chance the time spend listening will amortize.
