Jason, one of the most caring students at Schubert High School, is intelligent, abused, and very much alone. Having been raised in a dysfunctional household and having no idea why other students avoid him, he slips into a world of silence to protect himself. Although he had met many people while working to help support his family, his only social relationship is with a beautiful young girl he met in English class. She is not aware of his growing love and attraction to her.
Jason feels safe with his imaginary relationship with Brittany, appreciating her beauty whenever the subtle opportunities present themselves. Suddenly everything changes when they attend a biology class together at the beginning of the next semester.
Jason from the "other side of the tracks" is faced with some of the harshest realities of life when Brittany engages him to discover what is causing her friend's mental suicidal condition.
