While "The River" speaks of creating harmony from complexity, other poems honor various people in the author's life. The underlying theme, which leaves the reader warmed and comforted, is a profound appreciation of life. Let us rejoice with the author in its complexity, its beauty, and even its challenges, as they help to make us who we are.
