While "The River" speaks of creating harmony from complexity, other poems honor various people in the author's life. "Perspective" gives us advice on how to deal with pain, rejoicing in any release from it. Many of the poems celebrate the joy of nature: planting and sharing, seeing a seed sprout, observing a spider and her web, or talking about how the grit in an oyster's shell can result in a beautiful pearl.
The majority of the poems relate all this to God and His divine light, to His love and His plans for us. Let Him, the divine silversmith, fashion you as He will. The underlying theme, which leaves the reader warmed and comforted, is a profound appreciation of life. Let us rejoice with the author in its complexity, its beauty, and even its challenges, as they help to make us who we are.
