Dottie Berkeley has grown up practically running Buckeye Lake Park, but when she is accidentally involved in the tragic death of a beloved community member in the spring of 1947, her reputation is under attack. With nothing left but the urge to hide, she ends up burying her shame in farm work at Levi “Smokey” Black’s Festival Farms, a wonderland of pumpkins and Christmas trees at odds with the summer heat and Dottie’s bleak outlook on life and faith.
