After God destroyed the Garden of Eden, He realized that Adam had no way to provide food for his family. Without seeds he couldn’t grow anything. Even with seeds, it would take several months to produce a crop. While waiting for a harvest Adam and his family would starve to death. That would not serve God's purpose. So God replenished a small portion of the garden and instructed Adam on how to collect seeds from all of the edible plants and how to plant them.
