Once upon a time, in the world of Keyfaetuun, when the cardinal dragons are different, on Fortune Island, there is a girl named Emilia and a boy named Ossvon, who see each other from opposite sides of a marketplace. In time, the two become close, but life becomes more complicated when Mayanja, the Mother of All Seasons, chooses Emilia as her successor.
Ossvon, in anger and sorrow, becomes Keyfaetuun’s first dragon slayer. Yet even Ossvon can’t fight against the entire fae council’s final judgement. He is sealed in a cave and given immortality to repent for his crime, leaving Emilia heartbroken.
Many hundreds of years later, Emilia, as the Mother of All Seasons, has learned to live with loss and a wound that has never fully healed.
When a lonely girl named Ruhi wanders into Ossvon’s cave prison and innocently frees him, Emilia’s husband is no longer who he had been years ago. Ossvon is free in the world again, and Emilia learns Ruhi has made a terrible mistake.
Emilia asks Thibo the Green Dragon of the South to find the hurting Ruhi and be the friend to her that she needs. Only together can Ruhi, Thibo, and Emilia make certain Ossvon is no longer a threat to anyone on Keyfaetuun ever again.
