That’s all I’ve got as I scrape together the last crumbs of my optimism when I inherit an eight-cottage money pit--er, beach property--from my aunt Ellen. With a whole 10 dollars to my name, I couldn’t be more over my head. But what I lack in funds, I make up for in the best friend department when my besties agree to help me manage this pile of beach loveliness. We even have a plan to grow that 10 dollars for those pesky repairs by hosting weddings once a week.

But when that stubborn 10 dollars just won’t grow fast enough, I’m left with no choice but to grab an obnoxiously generous offer from Victor Cage if I ever want to see my inheritance as more than a never-ending to-do list. Sure, he’s easy on the eyes and confident, but he also unleashed a pack of lawyers on my aunt Ellen before she died so he could get his hands on the place, making him the last person I want to work with.

He calls our beginning, with a surfboard to the head, getting off on the wrong foot.

I call it karma for hounding my aunt to sell.

So we’re even? I think. Maybe. We’ll get back to that.
