No Safe Refuge

Safety is a relative term for David. Initially reluctant to side with any of the warring factions, death strikes close to home as an unwelcome guest arrives in the nearby town, forcing David to take up his rifle once more. He is suddenly thrust into a fight for his life and for those he loves. Giving up isn't an option.

Charlotte and Vir escape the death and destruction in DC, but the ghosts of Charlotte's past continue to haunt her. Having thought they had been gifted with a chance at a new beginning, the two survivors instead find themselves pursued by a ruthless enemy.

Crippled by unrest throughout the country and division from within, the US government retreats to select locations. The ensuing power vacuum is filled by militias, paramilitaries, and countless smaller groups. Several factions push back against the anarchy, but each have their own agenda and motives, and instead find themselves at war with each other.

In this pause-resisting sequel to Zero Sum, over a month has passed since the nation fell into a state of collapse. The continent continues to descend into chaos, and humanity is in short supply. Each survivor finds themselves in circumstances that require them to fight for their lives and fight for their loved ones, or else perish at the hands of their enemies.
