Deeply Emotional

I was really surprised at the complex and emotional life story Lily tells. The voulnerability in her words and voice and the story of her perseverance and hardships really resonated with me. I highly recommend this book to anyone in a transition or who is having issues they want to work through. Learning from Lily's account of events, in my opinion could really help an individual.

Lily is an icon

She is completely honest with herself and you can tell. As she tells her story I can see her growth as a person, woman, mother, wife, etc. love her.

lacking emotional analysis /depth?

maybe I’m an overthinker, but i feel like my beloved Ms Allen lacks analysis of her life, especially how it has affected her emotionally and how she has endured past it all. this reads/listens so factually to me, and in a lot of ways it made me sad. I dont think she is in touch w her deepest feelings. and that’s ok. i did like her own narration, although at times she sounded very bored like she was just trying to get done.

Synchronicity

I came across this book at a local bookstore casually after hearing her songs at several places. I’ve been a huge fan of her songs and songwriting in general. She’s very witty and unapologetic even in her book. She conforms to her own ideals and is not just another popstar but above all proves she is a woman, a daughter and a mother. Since I don’t end up finishing hardcovers I invested in the audiobook. Best decision ever. She walks you through her own world in her own words; through good and bad. Very empowering for girls in their 20s. Very inspiring.

So glad you read it. I’m pretty ADD myself so a lazy reader. It was your story to tell not someone else’s to read. So personal and honest. Warts and all. Enlightening your take on “me too” in the music industry as you’re intertwined for years with x-amount of albums. Never thought about that before. Positive end that you’re still a wip but not destructive and more importantly have a healthy relationship with your girls. Well done Ms Allen I throughly enjoyed the twists and turns of “your thoughts exactly”.
