    Description

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life comes “frothy fun . . . Faster than a swiping Visa, more powerful than a two-for-one coupon, able to buy complete wardrobes in a single sprint through the mall—it’s Shopaholic!” (The Washington Post)

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Becky Brandon thinks that having a daughter is a dream come true: a shopping friend for life! But two-year-old Minnie has a quite different approach to shopping. The toddler creates havoc everywhere she goes, from Harrods to her own christening. On top of everything else, Becky and Luke are still living with her parents (the deal on house #4 has fallen through), when suddenly there’s a huge nationwide financial crisis.

With people having to cut back, Becky decides to throw a surprise party for Luke to cheer everyone up. But when costs start to spiral out of control, she must decide whether to accept help from an unexpected source—and therefore run the risk of hurting the person she loves. Will Becky be able to pull off the celebration of the year? Will she and Luke ever find a home of their own? Will Minnie ever learn to behave? And . . . most important . . . will Becky’s secret wishes ever come true?

    Ugh

Thank goodness for Rosalyn Landor. If not for her, this book would have been unbearable. I've listened to all the Shopaholic books on audio. Yes, Grey is my preferred Becky but Landor is way better than the one who reads "and Sister."

The book itself was a huge disappointment. Becky just never learns. She never grows, develops or changes. She was a compulsive liar, completely unrealistic and utterly spoiled in the first book and now, several years later, she is exactly the same. This is a 29 year old woman who behaves like a teenager with daddy's credit card. Horriflyingly, she is responsible for a young child, who gives every indication she is becoming as spoiled as her overly indulged mother.

Kinsella had an opportunity here to develop Becky beyond the shallow consumer who is only interested in the next big thrill into a grown woman who understands that life is not a just party or reason to acquire more stuff. This will be the last Shopaholic book for me. The series is definitely played out.

    Bring back Emily Gray!

Love Sophie Kinsella and am loving the audiobook so far, but really dread hearing Rosalyn Landor read anything! She's just not a good fit, in my opinion, with Becky. The first audiobooks narrated by Emily Gray were great - she should've done every Shopaholic book!!

    I'm So Embarrassed!

Ok, I give in. I admit it. I'm a Shopaholic Junkie. I know ... it's chick lit, but I can't help it. I'm in love with Becky. She makes me laugh out loud. Her convoluted sense of reality and her warped values are winning character flaws that make her my guilty pleasure. Obviously, in my more sane moments, I realize that no one could be as stupid as Becky's husband, Luke. He falls for her twisted logic every time. In reality, at best he would never have married her and at worst he'd be out the door at the first sign of her outrageous justifications. But I hope he never figures her out.. I say Long live Becky and Sophie Kinsella!

An Utter Waste of Time! Grow up Becky!

I loved the first Shopaholic books, but wonder if this immature woman will ever grow up. The charm has worn off Becky for me. I cannot imagine what Luke sees in this compulsive shopper. Will Becky ever learn that happiness is not found in her next purchase?

She hasn't changed since the first book; merely grown more tedious and boring. She lies constantly and we are to to find this charming, and to sympathize with her "problems"? In the midst of a financial crisis, Becky's main concern is throwing an elaborate and over-the-top birthday party for Luke? Can you imagine the negative press he would receive for this?

Life is supposed to be about growing up and changing, yet Becky remains as childish as ever.

The ideal next book (and you know there will be one) should be about Luke realizing what a crazy person he is married to and filing for divorce. Becky, I am officially "divorcing" you. This is the last Shopaholic book for me.

Can’t seem to get enough Shopaholic

I absolutely loved Mini Shopaholic. This is the story of Becky and her life after her daughter is born. This book seemed longer than the others which is not a bad thing at all I enjoyed every minute of it. This is the typical Shopaholic book where Becky is up to all her crazy ideas and trying not to shop (due to a bank failure and a promise to Luke). I really enjoyed the story and the narrator. If you like the other Shopaholic books you should like/love this one too. I really hope there is going to be a 7th book I just can’t seem to get enough Shopaholic.

    Still a fun story

If you could sum up Mini Shopaholic in three words, what would they be?

Predictable. Kinsella is still telling good stories, but it has become somewhat predictable. Its humorous as always and keeps the listener engaged.

If you could rename Mini Shopaholic, what would you call it?

    Shopaholic plans a party

    solid Sophie Kinsella

    Any additional comments?

I started this audiobook three different times. The narrator is not wonderful out of the gate. In addition, having read all of the Shopaholic series, I was thinking that this line was done. The third try was the charm, though. I stuck with it and it turns out that the story is hilarious. Becky Bloomwood is still maddeningly irresponsible, unrealistic and silly. She is still funny, endearing and well meaning. And the character portrait of Eleanor, the Ice witch MIL is deeper than I expected for lite chick-lit. A good relaxing read, like mental candy.

    The charm has worn off.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better story line with realistic edgy but exaggerated entanglements that befall our protagonist in dealing with her compulsion.

What was most disappointing about Sophie Kinsella’s story?

Embarrassingly redundent and her characters have become stupidly blind.

Would you be willing to try another one of Rosalyn Landor’s performances?

    Although I missed the

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Not a one.

    Any additional comments?

Was this ghost written or cranked out to make money? The previous characters were always edgy and compulsive but intelligent. This lead and supporting characters were all shallow nitwits with no redeeming qualities. And the plot was nonexistent.

    Rebecca Bloomwood never will change....

funny story it's it also funny that Becky is so clueless about the disasters that she causes!! But that is what makes these books such a fun read!! Enjoyed it very much!

Leichte Unterhaltung ala Becky Brandon (Bloomwood)

Ich fand das Hörbuch klasse. Wer die Shopaholic-Serie kennt, weiß was ihn erwartet. Nach wie vor schaft es Becky sich in den totalen Schlamassel zu bringen und wieder heraus. Diesmal ist es die große Geburtstagsparty für Luke.
Sehr gut vorgelesen von Rosalyn Landor.
