Description

2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the publication of C. S. Lewis’s classic, Mere Christianity. Having sold over half a million copies in the UK alone, his overview of Christianity has been imitated many times, but never outdone. The book is comprised of the legendary radio talks which he gave during the war years.

Mere Christianity brings together Lewis’s legendary broadcasts from the war years; talks in which he set out simply to ‘"explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times."

Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity’s many denominations, C. S. Lewis provides an unequalled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. This scintillating collection confirms C. S. Lewis’s reputation as one of the leading writers and thinkers of our age.

A consistent vision of christianism

If you are rational but still a believer, this book may help you gather your though in a consistent view about Christianity.
Also maybe you won't share all the visions, you'll have most of the heart of the christian message in a form that, in my sense, can talk to a rationnal man of today.
I really enjoy listening to this book. In some way it remembers me Tolstoï "what I believe" and "the realms of god is within you".

A classic to listen to over and over

I earned a badge on bookmarks thanks to this book. Although I disagree with some views CS Lewis exposed I can't help but be thankful for His take on Christianity. What a brain !

Even if you are not Christian...

...and if you are, but are struggling at making sense of it all, c.S.Lewis’ Mere Christianity will be a true jewel.
Please keep in mind these talks took place “almost” a century ago, so do try to contextualize some comments (very very few). This audiobook is a master piece and has been incredibly helpful and rewarding.

Brilliant

This book is so simple, yet so thought provoking. I kept on pausing and trying to absorb before carrying on listening.

I highly recommend this book, whether you are questioning Christianity or looking to reignite your faith or looking for a simple way to explain your believes to your friends.

I will listen to this book again and again and again. Highly recommended.

Brilliant apologetics

C S Lewis delivers brilliant apologetics in Mere Christianity. Everyone in Christian ministry should include this book in their studies. I have read the book before and heard it now audibly. I loved the content but didn't like the style of reading.

Very helpful

Very helpful content, and a warm, pleasant voice!
Heartily recommend. C.S. Lewis points out many aspects of the Christian faith which the Christian and non Christian alike, may not have thought off, yet who are worth serious reflection.

I've listened to it several times, and am quite sure will enjoy it more in the future.

Well deserved classic

The book is full of wisdom, but I'm pretty sure that I need to relisten parts or even the entire book to really grasp it. I count that as a plus though.

I got enough at one point...

I purchased this audiobook because I really wanted to learn more about Christianity, open for the path. But the author just keeps shooting out pseudo-logic, based on analogy, metaphors, and when he is at a loss of logical explanation he just says that's a part that transcends logic. After reading this book I actually AM more intruiged with the Christian path, but for the part that defies logic. Please stay away with troll-reasoning!
