À propos de ce contenu audio

Inspired by a tragically true story, homicide Detective Sergeant Kiki Diaz gets the call early one morning to respond to the McLean District Sub Station where two of her fellow Fairfax County Police officers have been shot and killed in the lobby by a gunman who fled. Paired with her partner, the salty veteran detective Bob Craig, the two start with victimology, motive, and physical evidence. Nothing jumps out at them quickly except this one is going to take time. When some strange leads start pointing inward, Internal Affairs becomes involved, which is not what Diaz needs. She has crossed swords with them before.

This is a fast paced and realistic police procedural. It's also a commentary on the police and police work. And how they deal with, or avoid dealing with death, the fear of death, PTSD, substance abuse, and relationships. Paraphrasing the talented former LAPD officer-turned-author Joseph Wambaugh who we recently lost to cancer, "It's not about the effect the police have on the streets, it's about the effect the streets have on the police."

All of the profits from this book, including the Audiobook, will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. The Memorial at Judiciary Square in Washington, D.C. lists the names of all 24,412 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty since 1786. Unfortunately, between 150 and 400 officers are added to the Memorial walls every May during Police Week.
