Histoire
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Description
Around the globe, people are facing the same problem - that we are born as individuals but are forced to conform to the rules of society if we want to succeed. To see our uniqueness expressed in our achievements, we must first learn the rules - and then how to change them completely.
Charles Darwin began as an underachieving schoolboy, Leonardo da Vinci as an illegitimate outcast. The secret of their eventual greatness lies in a 'rigorous apprenticeship': by paying close and careful attention, they learnt to master the 'hidden codes' which determine ultimate success or failure. Then, they rewrote the rules as a reflection of their own individuality, blasting previous patterns of achievement open from within.
Told through Robert Greene's signature blend of historical anecdote and psychological insight and drawing on interviews with world leaders, Mastery builds on the strategies outlined in The 48 Laws of Power to provide a practical guide to greatness - and how to start living by your own rules.

Enlightening
This book has been my "Black Bible" for many years and honestly has given me more understanding of the path I walk, with every passing year I understand different depth of the information... A modern day Bible for the "modern day renaissance man"... Thank you Robert Greene 🙏

very informative, could be more concise
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half or third of the book but struggled through the remainder of it as thing were repeated too many times in multiple chapters, and some ideas were lingered on for far too long. Yet the first half was enthralling and full of interesting ideas

Brilliant narration and fabulous anecdotes
Having listened to a lot of audio books I have suffered through some good content badly narrated. This is not one of those, the narrator does an exceptional job in my opinion, his pronunciation of non English names is outstanding, his cadence and intonation really do the text justice.
As to the text, it is substantial, and very well structured. I didn’t always appreciate the obvious obsession with evolutionary principles, almost to a doctrinal level, it seemed a bit over the top - almost like a fundamentalist preacher about evolution and atheism. However I think the author handles the subject of mastery very adeptly, and for anyone intent on mastering their craft, this is well worth a listen. For the richness of the biographical accounts alone, it is time very well spent.
