Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

First drink. First prank. First friend. First love. Last words.
Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words - and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet François Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps”. Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young, who will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.
Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another. A modern classic, this stunning debut marked number one best-selling author John Green’s arrival as a groundbreaking new voice in contemporary fiction.
Commentaires
"What sets this novel apart is the brilliant, insightful, suffering but enduring voice of Miles Halter." (Chicago Tribune)
"A gem of modern literature." (Guardian)
"What sings and soars in this gorgeously told tale is Green’s mastery of language and the sweet, rough edges of Pudge’s voice." (Kirkus)

I am concussed dot-dot-dot
This novel has been my favorite since the moment I finished it the first time. I've bought the anniversary edition and have read it at least three times. So when I saw that Wil Wheaton, my favorite actor, would be narrating my favorite book I literally cried. His performance in Ready Player one practically save the book and it was amazing here as well. he definitely has a knack for this stuff.
John's writing style is by far the most philosophical I've ever seen. It shows in his Vlogbrothers videos and it shows here. Awkward moments, new friends, love, pranks, heartbreak, and quite a bit of mystery. If you know John well enough and his love for Catcher in the Rye you might be worried but, thankfully, there's only mild teen angst. All of which are seen in other novels bit they blend so nicely here. It feels so real.
I believe there are moments in this book for everyone. Something that everyone will need. Maybe not the whole book for some. But I can attest, without a doubt, that there are many moments where I am the mother f****** fox.🦊

Loved it
There's something very charming and warm about Wil Wheaton's narration voice that allows this book and really any book he narrates to be so inviting and relatable. The content of this story was great. It had me guessing where the plot would turn next, and the complexity and unpredictability of Alaska's character is what kept me reeled in. While I kind of guessed what the twist would be that would resolve the main conflict at the end of the book, I definitely did not see the second twist coming. Satisfying ending and great story.

I liked it
I listened to this because it is our exchange student's favorite book. I wanted to have something to talk to her about when she first came to live with us. I can see the attraction for teens. Lots and lots of foul language. I despised that part of it, but it was a good story.

it was OKAYYY. just ok.
There are books that I can't stop. I NEED to listen to them so I know what happens next. This was not one of them. This was more like I have nothing else better to do so I might as well get this one over with so I can move on to the next one. This took me too long to finish because I had to push myself to listen. Just .. ok.

Wil Wheaton Is a surprisingly excellent narrator
Wil Wheaton my be the talking point of most if this review. I enjoyed the book, but I found it to be nothing special. I love coming of age stories. One of my favorite books of all time is a coming of age story (The Chocolate War).
One thing this story excelled at was characters and creating a feeling if nostalgia. I like nearly all the characters in this novel. Nearly.
The main character had one major mistake that never seemed to face consequences, which brought down his likability. But I loved his fascination with peoples final words, and I thought it made a rather compelling motif.
What I did not enjoy was the character of Alaska. She is such a major role, but I cared nothing for her. She had sympathetic and interesting qualities but nothing that made me care the way the characters cared.
This is my second novel by the author, and he obviously has talents. I just feel certain aspects are probably not for me, while others are.
Overall I did not mind the time I put in. It’s a short but fun enough tale. And the narration excelled it to new heights.

Mediocre story with some beautiful quotes.
The ending was unexpected, yet the characters felt alien, and the plot didn't reached me as TFIOS did. Narration was good - clear and well phased.

great book
I have listened to several John green novels and this is one of my favourites (together with the fault in our stars). I liked the snapshot-like storytelling and the voice acting, and the characters are just so relatable.
