Dystopie im Mittelalter mit Schusswaffen. Der Protagonist muss in den Krieg ziehen und versuchen zu überleben, bis er wieder zu seiner Verlobten kann. Magie gibt es sehr wenig, ein paar Personen Personen haben ein spezielles Talent. Keine allgemein magische Welt. Ein paar Zeit- und Längeneinheiten wurden neu erfunden, andere hingegen sind die uns bekannten. Die Mischung lässt es Recht halbherzig wirken. Der Erzähler ist wie immer top, nur wegen ihm habe ich das Buch angehört.
