Doug Snelson
Award-winning poet and literacy champion Doug Snelson recently published his new book Laughter Includes the Word: Revealed, a Life of Poetry, a selection of verses, all previously unpublished, reflecting Doug’s unique poetic perspective on the special and everyday events of his life.
Each poem was written in real time and is accompanied by a comment about the circumstances of its composition and the year it was written. The book has been reviewed by internationally known poet Neeli Cherkovski. Mr. Cherkovski was awarded the 2017 Jack Mueller Poetry Prize by Lithic Press for a lifetime of poetry devotion and excellence. Of Laughter Includes the Word, he writes: “The poems of Doug Snelson came as a surprise. I embraced their originality from the moment I began reading them, one by one. I was immediately taken by Snelson’s individualistic view of things and his ability to make our old words work again, even to sing. His distinctive vision, with its emphasis on the ordinary life around us, is well worth the reading. This poet accomplishes what every poet should aspire toward - he instructs on how to see and hear with aplomb.”
The book has received critical acclaim and reviews from Daniel Casey of misanthropester.com, the Midwest Book Review, and Netgalley.com.
