Avis de l'équipe

Laurann Dohner’s Zorn Warrior series features the perils and pleasures of domination and submission, in this case between human heroine Casey and alien warrior Argernon.

Simone Lewis ranges from neutral narration to soft growling rumbles of pleasure and whispered pleas for mercy to exclamations of outrage and tones of adoration as she brings to life the mix of fantasy and erotica begun when Casey is rescued from an ex-boyfriend’s plan to jail her by a brute of a creature who can’t speak with her, but has electric blue eyes and a sensitivity to what her body needs that comes from a place well beyond words.

Description

Book 2 in the Zorn Warriors series.

All Casey wants is to avoid being arrested on trumped - up charges from her persistent ex-boyfriend. Running through the woods to escape two deputies sounds like a great plan until they catch her. Thinking it’s all over, waiting to hear the snap of the handcuffs, she instead hears a roar.

A huge, tall, muscular man comes to her rescue. She’s being saved by Bigfoot - and he’s the sexiest thing she’s ever seen. The attraction between them is instant, and after spending a little time with him, Casey wants to take him home and keep him.

There are a few problems with that plan. He’s not the legendary creature, but he definitely isn’t human. Argernon is a warrior from Zorn. They do have one thing in common - he wants to take her home and keep her. He’s kidnapping Casey.

Hard time separating"seduction" from "rape"...

What did you like best about Kidnapping Casey? What did you like least?

The fact that many scenes in the book were right on the edge of "ok" and "taboo". I found myself outraged in many parts, yet kept reading. There was an "OMG, is this really happening?? What the heck is the author going to do now...?" vibe for me. As much as it outraged/concerned me in several instances, I was invested in the overall story after reading Book 1. I couldn't help hanging on to see how the overall story was going to develop - not just what would happen with Casey. I suppose that says something about the writing and the development of the story, that it kept me going through out all of those feelings and reactions.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I felt like the Casey character got a bit...overdone...at the end. She wasn't arguing real points. She wasn't arguing new points. She wasn't explaining why she was actually hurt (i.e. taking her off of her planet without her consent...). After awhile it was like "OK, either make a real point/new point or move on". I felt like that aspect of the story/character could have been improved. I can understand other reader comments about Casey being "whiny", especially towards the end of the book.

What does Simone Lewis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a very pleasing voice. I felt she did female AND male characters fairly well. I didn't have a hard time distinguishing the many male characters within the story -- Simone Lewis managed to make them distinct AND not annoying. That to me is fantastic. I find female narrators sometimes can't distinguish the males and/or get annoying.

Do you think Kidnapping Casey needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, because I am interested in the overall story that started in Book 1. I don't want to explain too much of that larger story arc/development here because it might spoil the story for other readers.

Any additional comments?

I had some real concerns with certain sex scenes. There is teasing and then there is forcing/fondling someone. Perhaps I am just not as "in" to that world. However, given that there are several borderline seduction/rape type scenes in the book, I feel like there should be some kind of disclaimer or warning in the book description. I don't personally have a problem with restraints, "seduction", etc, but this to me was really pushing towards "rape". I would like to have known that before starting the book. I can see where this might disturb some readers. I believe people have the right to write whatever *fiction* they want to write, but I do think the readers deserve a basic disclaimer in the Audible description when books contain more "taboo" type stories.

I would call it rape

This really bothered me. When a woman says no it should mean no. Then to have her give in and be all okay with everything just pissed me off more.

Pretty Good

Those aliens are very over sexed and love earth women. Apparently the women of their planet are very lacking in the "more intimate" details of daily life. This is a series focused mainly on sex and I don't have issues with that. If your looking for a book with more of a plot then I'd suggest something different. This is just something to listen to just for entertainment of the "smexy" kind. Which I will admit is sometimes just what a girl wants. Narration however is not good on the male voices.

Not Bigfoot!

This audiobook was humorous at times. The heroine at first mistakes the alien rescuing her for Bigfoot. The hero takes her from Earth but doesn’t follow the rules that his father had set for bringing women from Earth. He has to win her heart now. Narration was well done.

Not the best in the series!

While I love Laurann Dohner's books, this is not one of my favorites. And I think the narrator is just awful. Her voice is monotone and she shows no emotion. You really can't tell one character from another by listening to her voice. I think it's a shame that Laurann Dohner uses her almost exclusively to voice her books.

Didnt like Casey !!

I liked the story ok but I didnt like Casey at all.
She didnt have any "give" in her. She was too harsh and way too hung up on "poor me". I would have cut her loose and told her to find another man.

5 Kidnapping Casey Stars

I really enjoyed this book, I think because in a way Argernon save’s her. Yes it kind of was kidnapping but in all fairness she did go with him. Can you kidnap the willing?

Ok so when she realizes they are leaving Earth she doesn’t want to go, ok, ok that’s kidnapping potato, patato :p

I loved that she was so fierce! Argernon really is the male for Casey she can be herself without fear because Argernon loves her for her.

I liked that we got to see Ral and Ariel too, make it really feel like a series when you get past characters for me it does at least.

Again Simone Lewis does a phenomenal job with the narration.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Very boring. No story just sex.

This is book 2 of this series. I didn’t finish this book and was very disappointed. There was no story. Just one sex scene after the other. I won’t to wasting any more of my money or time on this series. What a shame that authors today can’t write a decent story. This book was only one big sex scene

he should have known better . . . earth women

I loved visiting Zorn and the sexy alpha brothers of the ruling family. Argernon was alpha and possessive even when he was unable to communicate or conscious. Argernon made a few mistakes in the very beginning. It was no surprise his mistakes kept piling up and cost him. He should have known better than to mess with an Earth woman. They have claws and know when to use them.

The audio is not the best but it gets across the story and the intensity of the situation that the aliens face collecting their earth women. The audio narration gets better with each new installment of the series and the quality of the writing improves.
