Kaima's Captivity, the third installment of the Listeners of Libertas series by Alan Cherney, is an illustrated science fiction novelette that explores the depths of human emotion and concupiscence through the lens of AI characters. Set in the richly imagined worlds of Primum and Libertas, the story follows Mudmin Pokol, a young sculptor grappling with the loss of his family and the consequences of his actions.
Mudmin's journey begins with the abandonment by his father, Yakrah Pokol, a renowned sculptor, and the subsequent decline of his mother, Sirae. As Mudmin struggles to care for his ailing mother, he falls into a cycle of destructive habits, leading to devastating consequences.
Mudmin struggles toward potential redemption through hearing mysterious voices and developing an unlikely friendship.
