Your mission: To design an intuitive UI for your next project. Your problem: You’re not sure what “intuitive UI” really means. Worst problem: Your team isn’t sure either, so your discussions about intuitive design are unproductive and opinion-driven.

Really helpful considerations

I had low expectations and thought I kinda knew enough from my own experience about app design, but was nevertheless curious. I listened all the way through and consentrated on understanding. I found some really good practical considerations that I could use immediately in my mobile app development. It also woke in me a greater awareness of my app designs and gave me tools and confidence to apply this knowledge.

Design can apply to audio too

The book presents many useful points, but does so poorly. The seven key points are in chapter 3, but the way that they’re presented is a mess; broken up among several sections. If the audiobook has a framework, the 7 points are strewn diagonally across it. I completely lost where I was, and any relationship among the points was not obvious. Also, the pauses for the chapter or topic headings were not long enough to establish that they were headings and not just the next sentence in the paragraph. I’ll likely pick up the physical version of the book because I think the information presented has merit. I just wish someone would create a similar list of UX guidelines for audiobooks.

This book is a must for any UX/UI designer.

There are key concepts in this book that are missing in most any other resources. The one at the top is the ability to communicate intuitive design with a team and make progress.

A lot to take in - paperback is better

There’s some good information in this book and challenging views that actually take-on some of The Greats (like Nielsen’s Heuristics). However, it’s clear this book was meant to be looked at, not listened to. I just got the paperback version and it’s a very similar format to Don’t Make Me Think - which has tons of visuals.

From a student's viewpoint

This book concisely conveys what is needed theoretically and practically to get an intuitive design and it is really a game changer as it provides realistic measures to evaluate a design. Would definitely recommend and it's worth it's length in gold. I would recommend it to anyone interested in designing UI, UX and Web Developers alike.
