À propos de ce contenu audio

“She thought it was their first Christmas together, it turned out to be her last…”

When Emma joins her new boyfriend Michael for a ‘Friendmas’ in the Alps, she’s quickly thrust into an exclusive world of privilege, partying, and politics. Emma can't ski and is out of place among the close-knit group, but she's determined to win them over.

Without the usual headache of extended family members, Brussels sprouts, and unwanted gifts, the group turn back the clock and unwind with wild abandon. As a storm gathers outside, the friends begin to re-trace their past, prodding at memories and feelings that have long been buried.

When the house wakes on Christmas morning, they find one of their party dead. No one is allowed to leave. As the snow piles up, the evidence of the night before begins to disappear and with it goes the ability to distinguish friend from foe.

As the group turn on her, Emma must find a way out before the killer finds her.

From the million-copy bestseller Claire McGowan, and performed by Hayley Atwell, comes a white-knuckled thriller that asks how far people are prepared to go to keep their stories hidden.

Good story, well unfollow so it got you guessing! The main character a bit weak in some places so difficult to totally like but quite a good read

Good intrigue and story

Une erreur s'est produite. Réessayez dans quelques minutes.

Be patient and give it a bit of time, the story (and especially the main character, cause my oh my is she annoying at the start) gets better as the chapters go by.

Give it time

This is the first time I’ve come across Claire McGowan. I feel like she can write better. This was an easy listen but the heroine was frankly annoying (would she really not have felt any thrill or excitement when joining that world?) I think it would have built more suspension if she had been really into it all and then gradually realised her reality. There was also very little real suspense. On a couple of occasions I thought it would get tense, but it didn’t. Good characters.

Good narrator, easy story but not amazing

Une erreur s'est produite. Réessayez dans quelques minutes.

The story is ultimately implausible on every front. Characters who lack any fibre of decency, are inexplicably unkind to the main character and even to each other but are nevertheless motivated to spend Christmas together. The portrayal of the village in the French Alps incapable of dealing with snow storms - again highly unrealistic. The excessive consumption of drugs and alcohol on a daily basis which would leave a hardened alcoholic hospitalised. A beginner who manages to ski down an icy black run in the dark. A highly successful business woman who risks it all to help a friend she barely seems to like. The performance of the narrator is good overall with the exception of the male voices which fall a bit flat.

Suspense but
