Rediscover the joys and challenges of growing up when sustainable living was a fact of life. Growing Up in Cajun Country takes place in the middle of farmlands with a beautiful hand-built cypress home. Progress gradually invades Anne’s small-town family lifestyle. Kerosene lanterns give way to electric lights. Cisterns for the kitchen’s water supply disappear, and the family abandons outhouses and portable metal bathtubs when they install indoor plumbing. However, open windows allowing gentle breezes in hot months along with a wood heater and handmade quilts to warm loved ones during the cold months always remained. Join Anne on her journey and learn to enjoy the simple beauty of life surrounding us each day.
