Description

My dearest daughter, I will never forget the day I nearly lost you. The day you learned the secrets that would tear our lives apart....

Time stops for Jen when her beloved daughter, Gracie, is involved in a terrible car crash. Pronounced dead at the scene, it's a miracle when paramedics manage to then resuscitate the little girl. The relief Jen feels at Gracie's recovery is matched only by her fury at the driver of the car - her ex-husband's new girlfriend, Ella. Jen has never trusted Ella, and now her worst fears have been confirmed.

But then Gracie begins to tell strange stories about what she heard in the car that day and what she saw in those moments near death. It's clear that there's something shocking hidden in Ella's past, but exposing it could tear all their lives apart.

An emotional pause resister that will take your breath away. Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Lisa Wingate, and Kerry Fisher.

Sneaks up on you

For the first third I was waiting for something to happen and then it hooked me. It's an unusual story line. Try to purchase on sale as a credit might be too much. The narration was pleasant except when the child was upset. Then the voice was so high pitched that it was like nails on a chalkboard.

Overly dramatic

It’s hard to get to the heart of the book due to the overly dramatic theatrical performance by the narrator.

WOW!!!! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT!!!!

WHAT A GREAT STORY!!!! THIS ISN'T YOUR REGULAR PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER, BUT ABOUT LOVE, HOPE, AND THE POWER OF A MOTHER!!!! I CRIED AND CRIED. THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK!!!! LIKE I SAID, IT'S NOT A NORMAL THRILLER, YES THERE ARE SOME TWISTS AND TURNS, BUT THIS IS MOSTLY OF A MOTHER'S DEVOTION TO HER DAUGHTER..... LIES PEOPLE TELL, AND HOW DESPERATE PEOPLE CAN BECOME IN THIS LIFE.

What kind of disturbed person writes this crap...I listened for and wasted hours putting up with the annoying whine of the narrator only to have a sick, stupid endkng! GRRR, don't waste your tine or money! Or emotion for that matter!

Poorly written

The obnoxious whining of the child’s voice and personality was a real deterrent for this book

Great story

I did like this story about Gracie and her mom, and should have caught on sooner than I did what was going on. It was heartbreaking and touching. The only thing I didn't like was the voice of whiney Gracie. It even made our cat screech a couple of times while I was listening to it. The other voices were fine, just the whiney Gracie one. I'll look forward to more books by Jill Childs

British humor at its best! But, you do not laugh until the end.

British humor at its best! But, you do not laugh until the end.

Gracie is a delightful, precocious three year old. Her mother wraps around her. But mother is a neurotic. She chronicles Gracie all her mother’s life in journal a journal. From whence comes the story.
Gracie’s mother has just been abandoned by her. The mother’s story continues. I won’t spoil the book. But let me say, that this book catches the reader up into the madness. Good story read by with excellence by Allison Campbell..

DNF

No Rating-DNF What would you do if you got a phone call saying your three old child was in a car accident and is now in a coma? Right from the start, this story had me guessing. Was this a romance? A thriller? I did go into this blind and as I was reading I was caught off guard a little. This read more like a Christian suspense than anything else (however; I did not finish this so I am not sure if that changed). I have to agree with others though. I just never could get into this story. It had so much potential, but it just feel flat. It was repetitive at times, and I wanted more. I feel the characters and the plot were all service level. There was never really much development around either. I kept reading as I was hoping something would happen to capture my attention, but I found myself trying to force myself through it. I did want to know what happens at the end, so I skimmed to find out. Overall, this one just did not connect with me. I ended up DNF and skipping to the end. I was sent a copy from the publisher.
