    Description

When the thief guilds all join forces to steal the treasure of the city, Gabriel and the Shadow Foxes face their toughest challenge yet.

But throw in a powerful gorgon, the prying mage academy, and a berserker vigilante hafling, and...well...let’s just say that Gabriel’s unique brand of controlling magic is going to be the only thing that can save the day.

If he can just survive the day.

It's OK but it's just another side quest

While the story is fine by itself, the author never seems to further the overall story. Large plot questions like why the goddess sent him there are never answered or addressed. The main character's power never seems to grow or develop he just seems to have more mana when he needs it. The hinted subplot of the main chapter developing into something more also does get developed or fleshed out. seems that we will grow old and grey along with the characters long before the bigger picture gets developed. What is growing is the number women the main chapter beds and adds to his harem...ahem..guild.

    good series

This is a great series but the male narrators over eager annunciation really makes it hard to stay focused on the story at times.

    Worst in the series

This is probably the lowest review I've ever given without returning the book. Not will I be dropping the series, yet.

I enjoyed the first three books in the series well enough, but this one had so many decision by Jacobs that had me frustrated and scratching my head that I actively hated it by the end.

This installment is more like a mystery/thriller than the previous three. Problem is, for it to work the main cast has to completely ignore everything around them and not have a single deductive bone in their bodies.

I can't imagine myself in their situation and not have a million questions and theories going through my head - even the most obvious ones. All of them are just ignored and the cast moves from scene to scene because the plot demands them to.

Then I had one big prevailing thought that's been around since book 1, but just became much more important in this book...

    Why?

Why is anyone doing any of this? Why help the mage college at all given you know they go around murdering innocent babies? Why do you all give a shit that nobels are being robbed? Why is it eliciting such a violent reaction?

Also the main villain - I am not joking - wrote all his bad deeds down in a diary and this is the proof we all need to know he's guilty. It's such an absurd end that it's either horrifically embarrassing writing or so blatantly a frame job (that no one even questions, again). Both possibilities are less than ideal, obviously.

I can't really get any more specific than this without going through the story beat by beat, but this one left me feeling so frustrated that if the next one is even remotely similar, i'll be dropping the series.

    Hopefully not.

Still waiting for the title to fit the main character...

It seems each books story wraps up nice and neatly from start to finish. No overall large spanning mission or exponential growth. Leaves the series with room to grow but I need this main guy to how SOME type of obviously godly powers with a few limitations. Right now he can be taken don't by any Bloof mage or just more experienced mage. His power needs a serious boost so it would be Godly. Then sex scenes are few, short and not too detailed. Good book overall. Narrator male and female I enjoy listening too. Keep up the good work!

    What?

Again you got me. I expected him to take Evane last book. But you got me then. However, Evane joining the adventure as a duelist? You got me again.
The best stories keep me guessing incorrectly while being entertaining. 5 stars on both counts.

    really enjoyed it

I really found the story entertaining. Its relatively light reading but still fun. The narration was done very well, and I was able to stay in the story. The transitions didnt distract you from the story like other dual narrations.
